My comment was in regards to their defensive scheme, which is heavily influenced by having athletic defenders that can switch everything and stay with their man, basically playing positionless defense. And from what I saw last season, this is pretty much the model the Rockets used to counter against the Warriors historic offense, and helped the Rockets ramsack the league and come within a hamstring of the NBA Finals.

The Sixers, on the other hand, are basically replicating the analytics no mid range offense. Not sure about their defense, but I still have doubts they will ever reach the upper echelons until Simmons shows he can shoot and Embiid consistently stays healthy while playing 30+ minutes. I also see teams like the Rockets and Warriors punishing their big lineup eventually.

So yeah. the Warriors have a unique combination of talent, but their defensive model has proven to work to counter the 3, and the Rockets used it successfully against them as well. If other teams don't follow suit, teams like the Warriors and Rockets will punish them.

Well this is very good because it puts into perspective for capella that you can’t flaunt how important and worth the max you are when there is a cheaper good option out there...

Different circumstance. Griffin and Paul were the center pieces of a veteran team, when Paul left the front office tried to keep the Clippers in playoff standing. This didn't happen due to chronic injuries, so by the time Blake was traded it was time to shift direction. With 2 draft picks this year, the clippers are headed in a rebuild mode. Hence, Tobias is a keep. At 24, he still has a lot more years and him and Harrell can be part of this rebuild, so we aren't looking on trading him because he's young enough to be part of a rebuild

Took ^ from another thread, but...

Regarding Jordan: why wouldn't NY just wait out Jordan's contract? Would it make any difference, money-wise, if the Knicks buy him out vs letting his contract expire at the end of the season?

Plus last thing Knicks want is to win games. Zion tank full effect.

If we look at the PR perspective, it's good to give players a chance to compete and not just rot on the bench.

They can negotiate the buyout. So in theory they can pay less if Jordan is willing to sacrifice some. Not a big sacrifice though, since he will get paid by his new team too (hopefully us) for the remainder of the season.

Exactly - if they save 'just' $2million bucks it is a good deal for them.
DJ 'giving up' $2million isn't a huge deal since he gets most of it back through a vet minimum contract, and actually gets to play on the court, which tends to be better when negotiating a new contract anyway

Wouldn't this piss off Faried or is there room for both and Capela?

Why couldn't Faried back up the 4 instead? Our rebounding and hustle this year has still been atrocious.

With Capela injured, there is more than enough minutes for the two. Bring Clint back slow so not to reinjure hand and keep him fresh for playoffs.

Yeah, I'm wondering after he's healthy. Don't want anyone pouting on the bench during a playoff run.

DJ could easily ask to be bought out knowing that he'd make up the money with his new team, which saves the Knicks some cash. Same situation as Faried.
