De Andre Jordan. he's a RFA so lets make an offer and see if the Stingy clippers match. His upside is tremendous I believe. he's a true big that we've been needing down low for some time. Playing for his Home City as well is motivation enough for him to re-sign with the Rockets in the future as well. I think its a great fit for a player that just keeps getting better.
How are you going to pay for these guys? How are you going to effect a trade for these guys? Think: amnesty. It's our best chance to jump-start an exit from the middle-of-the-pack.
Morey probably goes for washed up and old again. So i expect Chandler. I would like it to be Jordan but he probably tell the whole league his whole plan hinges on Jordan here to replace Yao. Then we get outbid by someone else after offering him ridiculous cash or get stuck with a ridiculous contract. Hopefully Morey plays his next move closer to his vest next time and stops shooting his mouth off before he TRIES to get something done.
Unless there is a VERY radical change in the next CBA, Cuban doesn't need cap space to re-sign Chandler. That radical change would be the abrupt ending of or yearly decreases to Bird Rights. But that single CBA change to the NBA landscape would affect every team. And the Rockets wouldn't be the only team with some cap space to bid on those players not protected by their teams in an amnesty situaton.
For good reason... We already have a young big haired awkward tall guy on our roster... thats enough for me
With Randolph getting 20 the first year, Memphis would be over 56-57... So they can only match an offer for Marc if he maintains his bird rights after the new CBA. Do you know how this works? Will Memphis keep those bird rights?
More than likely the first few points of emphasis for Morey this offseason will be to try and unload A. Terrence Williams B. Jordan Hill C. Brad Miller (if Adelman is not coaching) D. Draft pick (Either trade one or two picks back for 2012 higher pick, package for Free agent signing, or package to move up in draft) Then the emphasis will be A. Re-sign Chuck B. Sign the best of center available with #1. Gasol, #2. DeAndre Jordan, and #3. Dalembert(at a reasonable price). Chandler most likely wont be targeted at the price he will command. Also Dallas will do whatever they can to resign. C. Move up in the Draft D. Draft of sign a quality wing player. E. Re-sign Yao at vet min. deal allowing him flexibility for half-season rehab. Idealy Morey would probably like to see the roster next season look like this= PG: Lowry, Dragic SG: Martin, Lee SF: Budinger, Quality Free Agent PF: Scola/Patterson/Chuck C: Free agent C/Thabeet/ Yao (rehabing) +1 (maybe 2) Rookie prospects / +2 D-Leaguers for the 14th & 15th spot(idealy one of those being 3rd string PG for insurance)
Chandler's defensive energy and rebounding effort are really impressive. He plays with such strength and is constantly aggressive. Man do I love that aggressiveness... To bad he's wearing that crappy mavs uniform right now. Sure would be nice to have him, but we won't have enough cap room, and Dallas won't do a sign and trade with us. Stinks that we weren't the ones that got him on the cheap at the beginning of this year.
Dalembert, since we have no chance to acquire the other two. Jordan is an RFA. Maybe the Clippers won't match a rich offer, but Morey is just about the last person on the planet who would offer a rich contract to win over an RFA. Chandler has no incentive at all to leave the WC champion to come play for us unless, again, we offered ridiculous money. So, it's Sam -- or known of the above -- by default.
Because he wont overpay for them. They are not franchise centers by any stretch of the imagination. They wont be centers to make us instant contenders. So why get into a bidding war for them? Just to say we got them? All of these guys need help getting their shots. You don't pay them franchise money.
I think you are right on all points , just want to add that I believe Thabeet would be the first to go because of his large salary comparitive to the others. His salary is double that of Twill , Hill @ 5.1M Making him the 4th highest paid player on the team ..... just for playing in the D-league or sitting on the end of the bench. I could also see Brad Miller being bought out. Those two moves combined open up quite a bit of cap space - Probably allowing for the team to retain Chuck Hayes and persue a top talent at the C spot in FA. So much depends upon what happens with Yao .... again. I sure hope they dont over pay the guy. Wouldnt mind him on the roster if they can move those other two but dont believe they have the option to keep Thabeet , Hayes and Yao while getting FA help at the same position.
