Sometimes you have to overpay to get what you want Brian.
But doesn't matter now Brian. Got Bob Covington. Good player, working hard, getting better every day. Excited to work with him & see him play for us.

Only for over the cap teams. If a team has the actual cap space it can take every dollar up to the cap. Once over the cap the 125%+100k rule is in effect.

There may have been TPE's involved too ...

I believe the pick was to shed salaries, not for Covington.

If we use this extra space wisely then maybe it's not such a bad deal.

If we just decide to keep the savings, then it's a bad deal.

You are right but even if that's the case the 2nd round pick lessens the loss of a FRP. Bell makes up the difference so it's like a Capela for Roco swap straight up. That's a palatable trade for a team in a win-now mode esp with a coach that doesn't play big men to begin with.

I mean if you've been following the Rox the last 4 years you'd know Capela has sucked in the playoffs the past 4 years for one reason or the other. Losing him wouldn't hurt the team cuz they'd never had him in the playoffs to begin with.

Capela Reg Season: 13.9 pts 13.8 rebs 62.3% TS
Capela Playoffs: 8.3 pts 7.7 rebs 60% TS

Of course Capela is still extremely young he is only 25 yrs old so he will have some growing pains. But Harden will be 31 this year he doesn't have time to wait for Capela to grow up we got 3-4 year window every season counts. Once Harden hits Cp3's age it is over the window is closed. Capela would be in his prime then but he isn't good enough to lift the team the way Harden is doing now. That's why the Rox need to go all in now while Harden and WB are still in their prime. Sorry to Capela, but the timing doesn't match.

Everyone's so quick to write this trade off as an LTS move and while that may be true, getting Roco could also be Morey giving MDA the guns he needs so MDA can go all out this season.

Lol at those who think Capela has the trade value to get impactful players.

This is the same sh‘t with Asik and people just never understand.

Someone needs to edit this image with Ferntits in it clipping Morey's wings ....

Morey's literally hamstrung. If I were in his shoes , I'd probably resign .... take my money to Costa Rica and fish all day

Ferntits is turning the Rockets into the Knicks .... a total embarrassment.

Asik was a expiring contract and Capela has the more years left than Chris Paul.

I swear, some of ya'll are worse than Celtics fans.

Covington works better for this team, now, than does Clint Capela. Clint was living on borrowed time here when the NBA Draft deal fell through.

Rockets got way below the tax and can still bring in a big, staying below the tax.

Yes, we gave up a first rounder. In a weak draft. But got a second rounder, which can come in handy for trades.

Gerald wasn't going to play this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets signed back here for 2020-21.

it's for this years 2020 draft right? If so, this is very true especially being in the 20s. this years draft class is incredibly weak

We are going to be able to help teams facilitate deals leading up to the deadline.

    Morey preys on desperate teams.

    This is a great trade.

May might’ve gave up a little to much but it’s whatever

will be better for it anyway.

people need to chill. We can still make more trades and buyout market is gonna be great for us

Additional cost to dump GG and Nene worthless contracts... so as to use the capspace in buyout market...

It seems Tilman makes Morey surrender his frps to offset his signing mistakes - such as Nene...

Capela alone was enough to get RoCo and would have generated a $3,595,333 TPE for the Rockets.

Adding in Green , Nene and a #1 to dump that salary was downright cheapness as they go NO value on their assets.
They could have used those two salaries to take in a total of $5,331,646 in salary.

Is there a player out there making $5,331,646. or less that could have helped this team ?!

Their actual contributions to the team are irrelevant - their value was the player you could trade their expiring contracts for when combined with that #1 pick ....

This deal is basically the expiring contracts of GG & Nene and a #1 pick for Jordan Bell who will probably get cut himself after the Rockets add another contract so they are at the minimum roster.

You just gave a #1 for Jordan Bell!

    I'm not feeling Ferntits ....
