On Codman's signature, there's a possibility that J-Smoove could come back to the Rockets. I have a feeling if Morey can't sign Bogut or Sanders, he'll just sign Josh. Not that many quality big men on the market at the moment.

It seems he is close to getting back. The Hawks wouldn't put a timetable on it, but
Afflalo is signed through next season....hard to see a buyout.

It was suggested on the TrueHoop podcast, so I think it's just an educated guess.

It's a gamble (obviously not the contract but if he wants to play...) , and if he did, it could work.. But I think he's content on being retired

Meh, only due $1.5MM guaranteed next season. Could see a buyout.

If Afflalo gets a buyout I would be all over that. He's not as good a defender as he used to be, but he could give you some competent wing defense and hits the 3 at a good clip.

I like the idea of having Afflalo coming off the bench behind Ariza & Dekker, especially when we need some defense at the wing. His production has fallen off this season but that could be because of the team he's on.

Isn't Afflalo a shooting guard? He's only 6'5", the same height as Harden. If we need help at the 3 spot, we should get someone taller. We're already set in the backcourt.

    He's listed as a guard/SF in basketball-reference.

He's only 6'5 but he can give you defense at the 3 for sure. I like the IDEA of him, but honestly it wouldn't be easy to get him minutes with us having 4 guards that need to play as much as they do.

No to Josh and/or Terrence. Let's look forward, guys, not backwards.

Missed that. Yes...he would be a great signing. Another guy that hits 50% from the corners. He's not a lock down defender, but he is a vet that knows where to be and what to do. Also, we could cover the $1.5 million if he gives it up in buyout negotiations.

I really like the idea of signing one buyout and one prospect (or two if we cut Brown).

I mean, I'd take him if no one else was available or willing to sign here. But I think we can do better.

I think I'd rather have TJones over Bogut.

Better? What wing is out there better than Afflalo?

Maybe your expectations are a wee bit high?

I can actually see some usefulness for Josh Smith. As long as he realizes he's not guaranteed minutes, he's a good defender and runs well. Would probably be pretty good for us when we go small. If there are no other options, he would give us some needed depth incase of injuries or foul trouble. I'd prefer a real defensive C or solid wing defender, but if you can't make either of those happen, why not?

Yeah but right now, without Ariza or Harden on the floor, we don't have a guard or wing above 6'3, so Afflalo would actually be giving us some size on the perimeter and serve as insurance for Ariza. I'm down, good locker room guy that would fit the 3 and D mold we need off the bench, with Lou and Gordon taking turns running the show. Cutting down Harden and Ariza's minutes will pay off in the playoffs.

Yeah, aside the fact that even when he was still good and healty he was always a bit soft and unathletic (playing next to Duncan helped him a lot), but as today, i really don't see him helping us at all with the role he would've to play here...hell, i think Varejao would play better and that's enough said.
