Well, tomorrow is the last day for players to be bought out and be eligible to join playoff teams. Pretty excited to see if anybody we would want is going to be bought out.
Hypothetically, let's say Derrick Rose gets bought out today and his agent comes calling saying he wants to play for a contender.... Our response...?
Fair enough. I'm actually right there with ya but trying to gauge reactions. Curious if posters here feel this qualifies as a do-it-ask-questions-later sort of decision.
I agree. I will add the clock is ticking.....tick-tock-tick-tock. Players take 48 hours to clear waivers; then need to be signed by March 1st deadline (this Thursday) to be eligible to play in the playoffs. Does me no good to wait for a player Intentionally released after March 1st. Last year I remember a team saying they released player A after the deadline for playoff eligibility.....due to that very reason. The players name escapes me at the moment. I'm not sure the exact time of the March 1st deadline.....but if a player didn't hit waivers as of early this morning. Rockets may be **** out of luck. I feel like the Rockets are locked into the 3rd spot barring injuries (knock on wood). If Kwahi Leonard gets hurt of our ver own Harden gets hurt then changes. Not sure any add-on gets us past SA for 3rd seed unless something drastic happens to opposing team (SA). Nice talking with you Tha_Dude. Stay cool.
They only have to be waived by March 1st, not signed. Players that are FA can be signed all the way up until the playoffs start (think T-Mac w/ the Spurs)
I'm not really a fan of the way the buyout system works under the current CBA. If a team wants to waive a player they should suffer the cap penalties no matter the buyout costs or who picks them up.
I'm guessing we're not going to get Bogut or Sanders, Onuaku comes up from the valley and a wing will be signed, possibly Casspi or Barnes
If Casspi follows the doctors orders & therapists recommendations. Casspi can be ready in 5 weeks. Ben Simmons should be ready for basketball activities; but a young kid like Simmons probably thought he is invincible as most young 20 y/o's do. My guess is Simmons removed a walking boot too soon or challenged his injured site too early. Created a mal union. Casspi is more mature than that. I hope.
