Zing! The Mets have offered 4 Jack-In-the-Box tacos, a Wendy's spicy crispy chicken sandwich, a 6-piece chicken McNuggets, and 2 Burger King Whoppers for Oswalt. Timmy is holding out for a Sonic cherry limeade and a DQ Blizzard. Git R done, Purpura.
Yes,we're going to have to give up top prospects, but it's going to be for proven players that cost the kind of dough that's going to bring that payroll back up over the next few years, MadMax - We definitely need to move now as Roger doesn't have much time left, but I see him having another couple of prorated years in him.We have to get another pitcher to augment what we have.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2535130 tigers traded for sean casey, sending shelton down. wow.
There's no way in hell Clemens keeps pitching half-seasons every year. I think he's pretty much done after this year.
Something needs to happen as a lot of guys feelings will be hurt...But Oswalt...He's untouchable in my mind...
No kidding. He would be one of our better hitters on our team with that average and production. (IIRC). I'd love to get reyes etc. from the Mets. But Oswalt. I don't know, I think he's my favorite Stro right now.
Roy is the only one on the Astros that pitches with an "old school" competitive fire. I would not trade him for anyone.....not ANYONE...we need more players with his attitude, not less. DD
Only way Oswalt talks make sense is if he's tipped his hand that he's gone this winter. No matter what, this has been a serious downer of a day for me. We may be looking at a complete rebuild sooner than we thought. Evan
I can't think of any reason to trade Roy in any deal, with one exception. If you were 99% sure that he'd leave after next year, then maybe, MAYBE, you listen to offers. Otherwise, why would you trade someone who is, in fact, consistently one of the 10 best starters in baseball? Guys like Roy cannot be replaced. I was shocked to even hear his name mentioned.
