Who do you think the Rockets have day 1 FA meetings with? I'm sure that conversations have already been sneakily taking place, but with so many signings happening in a rush right at the start of things, who do you think Stone and co. will make their priorities among the many names that have been mentioned?
Think KJ would be fun to watch with Amen. Was easily the best cutter on the team for Sengun. Obviously smart in that area.
With moratorium period legalized there's really no such thing as actual day 1 meetings since everything's basically discussed beforehand. Personally I don't think FVV will cost that much, because the Raptors if they re-sign Poetl are going to get into the luxury tax even with around $30mil for FVV. I don't think the Raptors want to go in the luxury tax for a play-in team. Plus money in Texas is a lot higher than in Canada so the discrepancy is even higher.
I'd be happy with FVV for 2 years and Brook Lopez for two years. I'd also be fine with getting Lowry instead of FVV. I don't think there are any FA targets out there right now, that will be part of our long term plan. That's why I want short term deals for veteran leaders, that can mentor our young guys and start to install a winning culture. If possible I'd like to get the flexibility to sign a max player next year (or if that doesn't work the year after that) - that would also help us, if a star suddenly gets available via trade.
I agree, I'm REALLY hoping they find a way to keep KJ. Possibly trading him and bringing in Dillon Brooks just feels like a disaster.
I'd rather give all the sf minutes to Tari and Cam than pay Brooks to come lay bricks and talk **** he can't back up.
It’s only two years and we have to give the money to someone before the kids are extension eligible. To the rockets there really is no practical difference between 30m/year or 40m in a short term deal. As much as Amen is growing on me he’s not going to be a major contributor in the first two years. This team’s glaring need is a starting pg and Fvv would instantly be our best player.
I like the Lowry idea but throughout his career if he didn't like his situation, he was willing to play lazy on the court. If he shows excitement or professionalism about playing for us I'd love that but I really don't think he's the type. I think he would prefer to get waived and threaten to not show up to camp with us or do what he always does when he's unhappy: gain weight.
