http://www.nesn.com/2012/03/report-david-stern-to-retire-as-nba-commissioner-in-2014.html It's about time.
Won't get excited at all if Silver is the replacement. Same ole thing, with an uglier face to look at.
i would have thought he'd want to make it this year. he got through the labor negotiations and got the owners a pretty good deal while saving most of the season and now that the lockout is over ratings and interest in the league still seem to be very strong with a lot of young stars and storylines going forward. seemed like a good time to go out on top.
Greatest GM in Clipper history. Good riddance, wouldn't mind him deciding to do it earlier (hopefully he realizes he is old as dirt)
He'd basically be Stern's protege. A.K.A. similar or same policies (this is starting to sound like politics...)
David Stern has done alot for the game. The insider rigging and manipulation really hurt some teams, but from a businessman's and a general NBA fan's point of view, his term may be the greatest one yet and he leaves behind a tremendous lasting legacy. Farewell, Stern.
Best commissioner in Sports, helped lead the NBA to new GLobal heights, he will be missed despite the ignorance apparently on here. Not too many people could've done what he did despite mistakes there. Adam Silver is intelligent, probably less of a hardline guy that Stern was, but should do fine
