Wouldn't surprise me to see them dump Nene to get under the tax.

Iman Shumpert isn’t a playing at a replacement level this season. He’s shooting 37% from three on five attenpts a game, and he’s always been considered a good perimeter defender. Unless Morey has another move up his sleeve tomorrow, Shumpert will eventually be the starter at small forward, moving Gordon back to his super sub role. So the Rockets used a late first round pick and a 2nd round pick to turn the unplayable Brandon Knight into a solid 3&D player that can guard multiple positions.

Tomorrow the Knicks will buyout DJ and once he signs with us we will trade Gordon and Capela for Beal.

    Well one can hope anyway.

Why on Earth would be trade Capela who is locked up on a valuable contract for 20 games of DeAndre Jordan who we will lose in July?

Because Bradley Beal is a better basketball player than Clint Capela, and having him and Jordan is better than having Capela and Eric Gordon.

And when we lose to Golden State in the playoffs who do you reckon we sign to be our starting AND backup center with our zero cap space?

We could take back up to 2.8 million, but we would not be able to bring House back or sign any buyouts unless we dumped him clean.

The only team that could completely eat Nene's deal is the Mavs, and it looks like they will be aiming to open up a max deal for this upcoming offseason. If they'd be willing to take his deal at all, it would likely cost a couple of future 2nds.

I’m not going to research this, but I’d venture to guess that someone in a role like Shumpert had in Sacramento isn’t ever going to have an eye-popping win share total. His job was to be the 5th option on offense, and check the opponents best perimeter scorer.

His overall field goal percentage also probably drags down those numbers, but the only percentage the Rockets care about is his three-point percentage.

    It's all about VORP, baby

I was just messing with you. If he can play bench D and hit 3's then he can fit in on this team.

Nobody knows how far the Rockets will go this season. Also, I’d say there’s a chance DeAndre Jordan would consider resigning with his hometown team on a full MLE deal.

If that deal actually happened, which I doubt it will, and Jordan opted to leave for more money, the Rockets would probably look at someone like Nerlens Noel, who has the athleticism to play in a switching defense and can be a rim runner at the five like Capela.
