I don't understand why a Remainer would even want to be considered for Prime Minister. I suppose with the partial exception, perhaps, for a Remainer who wants the job to execute a plan to undermine leaving at all.

She could use it to delay leaving. Or use the platform to negotiate new terms with the EU and use that as an excuse for a 2nd referendum whether they should leave the "new and improved EU"? Or she could just believe leavers are crazy and want to try to help guide the UK through an ugly transition.

This would be great, but it is very unlikely.

UK Stocks climbed to a 10-month high on Friday and had their biggest weekly increase since 2011.

So much for Brexit being bad for Britain. However, the stock markets of the large EU countries are still well below where they were before the vote. With experts like the ones that we have on this subject, who needs idiots?

part of the panic and anxiety is that the EU emperors will be revealed to have no clothes, that they are a paper tiger economically

Assessing the long-term result of something that hasn't happened yet in 6 days - who needs idiots, when we already have you?

The 100 is up, but the 250 which is mostly more domestic UK companies is down. The 100 is up because the multinational companies in it will benefit from Brexit, the 250 is down because the will get hit harder.

Also, the markets are now thinking that Brexit won't actually happen for a long time so that has calmed things down.

You don't know much about economics nor finance, so I suggest you first read up on what's going on before posting right-wing talking points.

You do realize the markets rising tends to be credited to the growing consensus that Brexit has been delayed for many months at least, or may not happen at all, right?

No. But then again I am not an establishment mouthpiece or an obsessive devotee to parroting the left's politically correct talking points, so that has to be taken into account.

British conservatives also don't have any clothes. It's common for the losing party to splinter and disintegrate. In Britian, the winners are doing so in spectacular fashion. Not just that, the leading candidate to take over after Cameron wanted to remain in the EU.

So you just don't know anything. Got it.

Major's reasoning is completely stupid. Cameron declared it would be delayed within 3-4 hours of the election being called. ftse100 hit a low on the 27th.

What exactly does stock market reality have to do with the political left or right? Do you just make things up?

Cameron declaring it would be delayed has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. I'm referring to the backsliding of the "leave" side; the EU backing off and suggesting the UK may want to reconsider; a "remain" politician becoming the favorite to become the next PM; etc. Cameron is irrelevant - no one thought on the 27th that Brexit wouldn't happen. By the end of the week, there's a growing belief that it's very realistic that Brexit is on hold.

Anyone who follows the markets saw how this played out this week. If you don't want to believe me, just google it.

We all saw. All of the media and the so called financial "experts" went all-in behind "Remain". They evaluated where the best place to have their money was if "Remain" won and invested there. Of course if "Leave" wins, in that scenario, the winners are elsewhere and they will loose big. And that is what happened.

But they are the "experts," so what could go wrong? Hahahahahahahaha!

Yet again, the so-called "experts" were wrong, and they had their butts handed to them by the markets as a result. A week later, now that everything has had a chance to sort out after the vote, the FTSE 100 (UK) has recovered and is higher now than it was the day before the vote. That means that the markets believe the future prospects of these companies in the UK are good. However, the big stock indices for continental EU are still well down. That is not good for them.

Meanwhile, the establishment and the media are in full denial, just like Nigel Farage said in his speech, as they are actually trying to explain the vote away by insisting that the British must not have understood what they were voting for. You really cannot make this stuff up. Because a few people Googled questions like "what is the EU?". Of course what is most likely is that it was some of the young snowflake "Remainers" who were the ones Googling those questions. If they had known the answers, surely they would have made it a priority to vote, which of course we all know now that they generally didn't.

Just FYI to all the establishment leftists who just cannot bring themselves to believe that anyone willingly and knowingly dared to defy them and spurn them like this. Denial is not a river in Egypt, or anywhere else for that matter. Maybe you guys need to get some professional help with that.

Also, here is an article in the Financial Times (UK) that provides some interesting insight into the fall of Boris Johnson, the rise of Theresa May and what that likely means for the brexit transition over the next few years. It provides some background on the background and the behavioral tendencies of these politicians that American audiences, unfamiliar with the nuances of British political figures, will in most cases not be aware of.

Nigel Farage, the leader of UKIP has resigned as leader of the party. He says he has achieved what he set out to do (United Kingdom Independence Party) and now he wants his life back.

Nigel Farage will be remembered as the key leader in this movement in any credible history book that covers this period in English History going forward.

Also, I predict that while the transition to full independence will have its difficulties and uncertainties over the next few years, 10 years from now the British people will look back and will be very pleased with this decision. Not just the people who voted leave, but 2/3+ of the people of the UK. The EU's darkest days are ahead of it and the UK is getting out very possibly just in the nick of time.
