The Laker Bigs were owning us on offense. Their size was evident. You can't teach size and that's where Morey failed in building the bench this season. He had too much faith that bigs with skill could make up for bigs with size. That's Morey's M.O. BTW. He likes bigs with skill and lesser size as opposed to bigs with less skills.
You're saying Black and Dorsey have skill? These guys have no skill and have no size. Neither should be in the NBA.
Morey knew Dorsey and Black were garbage. He knew the team was very thin on depth. However he wanted flexibility to make a deal for a starting caliber player. He then would address the bench. So far his depth in the backcourt and swing players have exceeded expectations with Terry, Canaan and Papsmear. The post players are the worst in the NBA outside of Howard and Jones. The question is HOW much flexibility is Morey willing to give up NOW to get someone inside now. He has to get someone because the morale of the team will be crushed otherwise.
It's about time we stop with the Morey praise and ask where are the results. Morey does a great PR job of fooling the idiots. Stuff like "coaching doesn't matter", "best defensive big in Europe", "it's a coin flip", "need 3 all stars" , "we will be a better team come playoff time than last season" etc don't mean a thing when you can't even beat a scrubby Lakers. Show me the results.
This isn't "inside info," just my opinion. But I think Morey would be very happy to have Millsap as that third guy.
The problem with the anti Morey club is that although some of the criticisms are actually valid, they are almost never in context or have enough insight to be taken seriously. Yelling and screaming while citing cherry picked phrases from interviews never works well. For example the tired argument that Morey doesn't like midrange. Why would he go after Chris Bosh then? What shot was the bread and butter for Patrick Patterson, Carl Landry, and Luis Scola? Here's another example. The coin flip thing. I'm actually convinced that these last few games have Morey concerned. A coin flip win versus the Sixers is bad regardless of how you put it. Same versus a depleted OKC. You see, that's true other side of the coin. Some wins are not good just as some losses come down to probability. Whatever. Anyway, some better arguments would be welcome. Perhaps thinking about whether what you're posting is a strong valid argument or just an angry tirade in the heat of the moment would help.
1. Maybe you haven't got the memo. Bosh added a 3pt shot last season. It wasn't that great. But respectable (.339) enough to be qualified as a stretch 4. 2. Patterson, Landry, and Scola were let go. Remember? 3. Patterson actually has developed into a pretty good 3pt shooter. Landry and Scola aren't just midrange shooters. They can score near the basket, which is also within Morey's M.O.
Morey is loving every minute of this game: - McHale following his orders - Shooting so many good statistical high percentage shots - statskeepers correcting mistakes
I'm honestly worried that Morey will use our injury situation as an excuse to not fire Mchale after the season is over. The only reason Mchale is here is because he is Morey's puppet, and I fear that Morey will use the injuries this year to deflect from Mchale's incometence. Jesus Houston sports are a beating
Moreyball ain't going to take you anywhere. Having a coach who is basically just a beta lackey following GM's instructions ain't going to take you anywhere. LETS GO HARDENNNN
