I've just finished watching an exhibition game between Poland and Croatia. And belive me, Gortat was the best center available and it is really a shame we couldn't sign him. Orlando made a very smart move because he is worth these money. For me, he is a star in the making but never mind, this period is over.

We have to find a different way to get ANY center there is available. Last season we had Deke and Yao. Both will not be available next season. We have no choice. We have to either sign a free agent or trade some players to get at least an average center.

It'd be sweet if Andersen turns out to be really, really good, like a better, more mobile Okur... Maybe he'll get a little high-low game going with Scolandry... Maybe he'll have an effective high post offense, with high pick & pops for AB/KL, and Ariza/Battier/Budinger knocking down corner threes... Maybe we'll have ball movement, and reliable set offenses, in the rare situations where we aren't running for early offense...

Hope springs eternal, especially in the dog days of summer.

Isn't this thread about the Center we just signed? I don't understand why people can't believe we might start the season with the roster we have. Any moves we make will only be for the future, as in 2010-2011. We obviously aren't going to turn into title contenders this year unless we make a huge deal which won't happen until McGrady gets back and shows what he can do.

So after reading your post I feel like you have already given up and you are ready to rebuild. But (thanks God) Daryl has different vision of the future and he wants to stay competitive next year.

In this case, they want to make any move that will make this team better. And we really need size especially at the 4/5 positions. Morey knows it.

LOL why do people keep thinking that we had a chance to get Gortat? Had we given Grotat the full mid-level Orlando would still match....meaning we would just end up having our money tied up. The end result of that would probably be we would miss out on the Ariza express and he would end up signing with either the Cavs or Toronto. My personal opinion is the guy is a steal at the mid-level, however feeling about not getting him is like feeling bad that we didn't draft LBJ or CP3 or Wade. Its out of our control people, there was literally nothing we could have done that would have landed Gortat, short of actually trading for him.

On topic, I'm really happy we got Andersen. I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people with his play this year.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be competitive or start rebuilding; I just don't see is making any big moves until the season starts. I believe THIS roster can be competitive and give other teams all they want and then some which is why I believe this group will start the season. Here's where I'm coming from. I doubt teams will take McGrady until they see what he can do. He can be more than just an expiring contract. So I think Morey would be smart to see how this team performs until the Trade deadline starts to arrive. Then he can see what he wants to do.
