Basically, Morey turned the 25th pick into three picks, 28th (still enough to get the players we wanted), 33th, and a high 2nd rounder of 2009.. Good job...
Daryl Morey never ceases to amaze me. From what I've seen so far, I think we have a guy who will soon become the best GM in the league.
So true! How the hell did we manage to trade down one pick (27-28) and pick up a second rounder (most likely high) next year? This 10 minutes after trading down 2 spots and picking up a high second rounder this year... So we'll have Lishouk, Newley and Leunen honing their skills overseas now! I have no hope any of them are bona-fide NBA talent, but at worst they could put up big numbers there and be trading chips!
1st rounders: good upside, long-time project early 2nd rounders: zero upside, immediate impact late 2nd rounders: just for fun
Here's the link again -- it now includes the two press conference videos ... again, it's a little shaky since I was zoomed in and holding the camera. There are also some YouTube videos of highlights for Greene and Dorsey. http://www.clutchfans.net/news/1475/morey_happy_with_trades_for_greene_dorsey/
Clutch, I will be at some private lunch from 11:45 to 1:30 tom before the presser you gonna be there?
Interesting that Morey confirmed Novak will be on the roster for at least one more year.....I guess the kid aint gettin cut then!
that 2nd rounder next year is almost assuredly the first pick of the 2nd round. i can't see them not being the worst team in the league.
yeah, that's a huge move imo... in fact, i'd say that second round pick probably has more value than a very late first round pick seeing as though it doesn't involve guaranteed money. i think morey is setting himself up perfectly for a pretty big trade either later this offseason or - more than likely - at the trading deadline. we have various picks, young talent, and expiring contracts that a lot of teams will covet. so long as greene (and to a lesser extent dorsey) can have a pretty immediate impact, i'd say morey did an outstanding job.
THANK YOU CLUTCH !!!! That video was awesome and if I am not mistaken part 2 of the video, where that question was asked about Dorsey being a 5........is Clutch himself. DD
