for sure he will make trades or signnings to make this team competitve and stay as the best among non-playoff teams.
The Rockets said they believe Lamb and White ARE pretty much top 5 talent. Incredibly deep draft and we probably got some steals. This potentially makes Martin and Scola expendable.
They also said PPat was top 6 - and Morris was a SF, and Dorsey was the best defensive center and...so...uh.....well..... DD
Four years from now when Houston is facing the hard choice of which max contracts of their All-Star RFAs to match, all the forum goers/losers around the league will be on their boards demanding of their management: "Why are we sucking ass? Let's rebuild the way Houston did!"
Failure?? He didn't say the goal was to merely make the playoffs. They've said TIME AND FREAKING TIME again that their most important goal is the long term objective of assembling a championship squad. They said they're willing to make the short term sacrifices to achieve those long term goals, but simply refuse to intentionally tank in the process. Just because they aren't there yet doesn't mean they're a failure. I doubt you have a clue as to how to get there either via the non-tanking route. I understand your frustration as a fan but come on already. When I first came to this board I considered you one of the leaders and voices of reason, but these days you're just a sad and pouty middle aged man. Grow up.
Why on earth would you think this is the roster we'll start the season with? Has that ever happened, even once, during Morey's tenure -- that the roster remained unchanged between draft night and the start of the season (much less the start of training camp)??
Hey guys, look on the bright side, with so many rookies, lottery picks from the last few years (including the 09ers), even say the odds of one becoming an all star is 10%, we should have someone break out soon:grin:
Its nice to have the occasional voice of reason. I was pissed last night but then realized what chips we still have and understand this is just the BEGINNING of the off season. I bet we will have at C this year one of Asic, Gasol, or Kamen.
I get that, and that's fine. But you KEEP doing it. Post after post it's the same stuff. We heard you the first time. Every post from you in the last 24 hours, (with some exceptions) have been some doom and gloom whining. We get it, you're not happy. Stop spreading negativity to others. If you don't have anything positive to add, keep it to yourself.
Dwight Howard wants to play in Brooklyn with Deron Williams. It's up to the Orlando Magic and other 27 gm's in the NBA to find a suitable trade and force him to leave 40-50 million dollars on the table to sign in Brooklyn as a free agent. At some point, teams need to have the balls to call the player's bluff.
Martin and Scola should have been expendable before the draft last night, irregardless of its outcome.
Motiejunas hasn't played an NBA game yet. While I like his potential, he's a lottery ticket at this point. If push came to shove, and he was the price to move up to get a top 10 pick or an all star caliber veteran, he's expendable.
Honestly who cares if we get one of those centers. None of those guys will make us that much better than we currently are. The Rockets need to make a move that makes us much better or much worse. If he likes these rookies then completely get rid of so many of the other redundant pieces and let these guys actually get on the court. Next year we need a roster that is going to win 50 or more games or 30 or less games. No more 40 win seasons.
