Yeah and Morey wasted their entire season to do so. If he got the trade done at the beginning of the season maybe Harden and Embiid would have had more time to gell. I remember he was asking GSW for their two lotto picks, Klay Thompson and another young player for Simmons lol. To go from that to paying for a pick to get Harden seems laughable to me.
Simmons was negative value since that game 7 against the Hawks, and Harden didn't want out of Brooklyn at the start of the year.
Yeah so if Simmons was negative value since playoffs what was Morey doing asking for 2 lotto picks, Klay Thompson and one other pick/good young player? As the quote said he wasn't negotiating in good faith.
This is Moreys make or break year I think not getting something for Harden or Tobias means they HAVE TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP Another 2nd round exit ain't gonna cut it. Philly Phan is a beast of unrealistic expectations Right now I think Morey is hiding behind Brand and other executives.....so he might get another year if some of those are fired. Rocket River

Morey just wins -- stuck to his guns and dumped a washed scrub with a huge salary for a nice haul and made the 76ers much better. Morey isn't a liar he is the truth.
now that the Rockets are in a better space, I can start to give Morey his props. i was a huge Morey advocate before he dumped us. I have been rooting for his downfall, but that harden trade was good so far. lol
He has salvaged this season but really just undid the mess he made. I give him props for drafting Tyrese Maxey but that's like the only good thing he has done so far. Embiid playing at an MVP level has nothing to do with him.
Undoing your own mess is something many cant bring themselves to do. Its an admission that you made a mistake. Some that create messes even double down and create a bigger one just to try to convince others (themselves?) they were right all long, hoping to salvage the bigger mess somehow. Usually, things just blow up in their faces later twice as big. I think Morey saw this coming and bailed when he had a chance to. Smart man. Meanwhile the Clippers on the other hand...
lol at anyone thinking adam silver is gonna let a morey team hoist an nba championship on his watch after those china comments that the league is still losing money over. Embiid is not gonna be shooting 20 free-throws in the playoffs and they will lose in the 2nd round again
Morey did indeed double down on Harden. He even triple downed when you consider his time in Houston. But yes I give him credit for getting good return on Harden and ripping off the Clippers lol.
As per the thread title, I was only talking about Philly. Morey didnt give Harden the contract he wanted.
https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.c...-extension-through-2027-28-season-nba/552461/ Obviously, the Harden drama didn't affect Morey negatively.
