Ahh, so he's actually not the smartest analyst in the NBA.

I feel like I should join the Philly forum and warned them of all the morey bullshit they're about to endure.

"We're getting somebody this summer allstar caliber. The tpe mid-level exception would get us a good player. These expiring contracts are worth so much. All 3's and layups even if we go 0-27. Coaches don't matter."

Never liked Morey. Almost ignored the draft. Was a wheeler/dealer. More of a bean counter than a basketball guy.

76ers asked Cavaliers for Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and a draft pick in exchange for Tobias Harris
Last week, sources told The Inquirer the Sixers are overvaluing Harris and asking for “outrageous packages in return.” That goes in line with what a source said the Sixers told the Cavs what it would take days before the draft: A package of Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and a draft pick.

The dude has lost his mind. They have been trying t get rid of Harris since the day he got there. Now you can see why they are stuck with him. Morey is a one-trick-pony. Harden's last day in the NBA will also be his.

Years ago, Morey was years ahead of his time, but now everyone else does what he advocated for in the first place. Nothing about him or his teams are special when everyone shoots 40+ threes per game.

Billy Beane of Basketball, too successful for his own good.

The only grudge I'll hold against him was not resigning on the spot when Tillboy forced the Westbrook trade.

This is in line with his insane demands for Simmons a couple summers ago.

Morey's tactic is to ask for the sky and hope some dumb GM will bite. If nobody buys it, he will gradually lower his price, sometimes a bit too late.

This is actually the old flea market (or used car sales) trick. Nothing new. You ask for a lot selling some mediocre goods and someone might be dumb enough to pay. It works more than you think. But it also makes most people extremely cautious dealing with you because they don't think you are negotiating in good faith.

To be fair, he did eventually trade Simmons for Harden and only gave up one first to do so.

We'll the diff is this isn't a flea market where you haggle with strangers, this is a closed community of "tribes" that interact with each other frequently. A lot of times discussions are fluid and time sensitive so if you get known as that dude who keeps wasting time with BS then you ain't getting contacted. Ujiri is another dude like this and tbh haven't heard of any raptors trade since they won a title.

Oth a team that seems to be a great partner is OKC, they always get contactrd for trades and pretty time sensitive ones as well.
