I certainly didn't want to believe that Dwight was a cancer in the locker room, but it seems like that was the case. They were always talking about people having their own agendas instead of focusing on winning and it looks like Dwight was one of them. He was more worried about getting post touches than he was about team success. In fact, he got so upset about not getting more post touches that he basically tuned out and became disinterested which explains his defensive numbers being so bad (by his standards) this season.

People don't seem to realize promises are for good faith effort, not a damn guarantee. The Rockets clearly put in effort to incorporate him. And basketball is a very performance-driven industry. If you suck, the gameplan will change, promises be damned. In an industry where people are traded, cut, and waived for crappy play Dwight is surprised they didn't force feed him the ball despite all evidence saying they shouldn't. Not only that, but he quit because his ego was hurt. Good riddance, I say.

I imagine part of our sales pitch to get Dwight here was heavily centered around him being a featured offensive weapon in the post.

People filled his head with nonsense like that. I imagine we sent Hakeem to coach him, reinforcing the "don't worry, you'll be a terrific post weapon!" mantra.

Then when it came down to it, he couldn't do it, and we also didn't really want to play offense that way. It runs antithetical to the Morey system.

Ironic that Morey's biggest ever, career-defining, free agent pickup turned out to be fool's gold because he didn't take into account that maybe Dwight believed Morey's sales pitch.

This. The Rockets might have promised Dwight they would make him a focal point of the offense but I'd shocked to hear that they promised to do so even if it wasn't working.

Even if you promise him you'd make him a focal point of the offense, it doesn't mean you promised him you'd keep posting him up over and over again. Dwight was at his best when he was moving around setting screens and rolling to the basket.....and when he'd pay attention looking for alley oop passes. Far too often he wasn't paying any attention and he was just standing around wanting to be posted up. He could have been a focal point of the offense in an intelligent way, but he just didn't want that.

And one more thing, Dwight isn't the only one with a voice. The Rockets aren't talking, but he's got 14 teammates that were in the locker room. NBA players don't just hear the press, they know each other. If his teammates were frustrated with him and not the team, free agents won't give a damn about what he says. And if Terry's comments were anything to go by, it doesn't seem like they were clamoring for him to get his "promised" post touches.

Lol. Spot on. Howard took less money to come to Houston than he could've gotten elsewhere. So of course Morey promised him a feature role in the offense. And Dwight fell for the pitch to his own detriment.

Not really though, he only took less money than he could have gotten if he stayed in LA....and once you factor in everything else, it wasn't even a significant amount of money. Really he just went for his best chance to win, which was the Rockets and it just didn't pan out. I highly doubt Morey promised him a ton of post opportunities.

....and if Morey did promise Dwight a ton of post opportunities and he believed that, it just shows that he's a really stupid person.

No Dwight, we prefer our brick bros to shoot 7-30 than give you 5 attempts.

Dwight had to leave L.A. He didn't get along with anyone, including the coach and most of the fans already didn't like him. It's was basically us and Golden State and I wish he had chosen Golden State.

He would have gotten plenty of attempts off of screens and pick and rolls. How many times does that it have to be said? BTW maybe if Dwight wasn't scared to shoot he could get some shots up too. Of course Dwight shooting long range shots makes as much sense as posting him up since he can do neither efficiently.

For the first time in his life, he'd finally have the refs in his back pocket. Can you imagine the illegal screens Dwight could set with the refs looking the other way all the time?

No because GSW is only GSW because Dwight didn't go there. No Bogut, No Iguodala and Dwight would refuse to set screens, LMAO.

Dwight is lifting more weights not working on anything offensively, Capela is working with Dream on facets of his offensive and defensive game. Adding new elements and improving on his freethrow shooting hopefully...
