He's staying. The Lakers are hiring some defensive coaches to justify keeping him.

Not even close. Ownership wants him and Phil isn't coming back.

Chuck Person was one of the assistants the Rockets interviewed for their coaching staff.

Perhaps might take a look a him again if/when Sampson leaves.

LOL. Bernie had the best coaching record this year for the Lakers, and Persons used to be in charge of/focused on defense, but then D'Antoni changes his role. And of course the Lakers defense sucked under D'Antoni.

But D'Antoni stays. It's almost like someone is paying back the rest of the world for forcing us to watch the Lakers win so frequently and having everything fall into their laps.

D'Antoni has got to be one of the most overrated coaches ever.

If you want proof that his coaching is more about style than anything else, see this year's Houston Rockets. Who, btw, had nowhere near the talent of D'Antoni's Phoenix teams (Nash, Amare, Joe Johnson, prime Matrix), but as competent an offense. I'd rather have McHale though any day of the week because I truly believe he would have done a much better job of managing ego's with his player friendly style.

D'Antoni's style is so mismatched for the current Laker squad its almost embarassing for him/them. Almost.

The dude literally had Pau Gasol coming off the bench because he just didn't think he could make a Howard/Gasol front court work. What a moron. Howard/Gasol is the most dominant frontcourt in the NBA, potentially.

to me D'antoni is a pretty mediocre coach. Good on offense ( not great... he just gave the ball to nash and told him to do one of 2 to things... run and shoot fast or a simple pick and roll with amare with 3 shooters to spread the floor, thats not really hard to do) and a disaster on defense. He shoudlnt be on the nba.

Bernie Bickerstaff is 10X the coach DAntoni has ever been or will ever be. Just another sign that D12 will be moving on to a new team.

If they are keeping D'Antoni, our chances of getting Dwight just went up by a decent amount.

**** YEAH. If D'antoni stays then Dwight sure as hell will want to leave.

Bring Bernie in to replace Sampson and we could have Daddy/Son combo.
