I don't think he is overpaid - but I do think it's enough money that it will hurt if he is hurt - the Texans put their money where their mouth is, so to speak. I support the move, he is capable of getting a big sack deep in the 4th quarter of a Super Bowl.
What I like about Hunter is that he's an actual pass rusher. Greenard wasn't and neither is Will Anderson.
Honest question: How come Hunter wasn’t discussed ad nauseam like the other big name FA’s? We were tied to Barkley, Wilkins, Chris Jones… even Queen, madubuike, etc.. then we mentioned resigning Greenard, Barnett, trading for Burns etc.. I saw Hunter mentioned once or twice, but I feel like we mentioned edges in the draft more than him. Was he just not someone we thought was possible? Did he only become a top tier FA after Jones and Wilkins signed? Or did I just miss all the hype about him somewhere? I’m very happy we got him, our D looks insane, and caserio has done it, just wondering why I mentally had all these eggs in Wilkins basket and don’t feel like we mentioned Hunter as much.
I can't wrap my head around it. The pass rush and improved running game will travel on the road and make the Texans a legit SB contender. The rush will cover up a lot of problems in the secondary but they must grab a safety or two and hopefully Pitre finds himself.
Hunter was plan B. Most people, myself included thought Wilkins to the Texans was a done deal. So Hunter while mentioned, he wasn't at the forefront of discussions.
I’m curious, couldn’t we have just signed and traded Hunter for Greenard to help out both teams? That’s essentially what transpired after the signings were all said and done.
Probably because we needed a DT more than a DE. He was plan B, but a very great plan B. Led the league last year in TFL. Him and WAJ will wreak havoc. Can you imagine if you are Levis behind that swiss cheese OL and you see WAJ and Hunter along with Autry on the other side?
