Dampier seems inclined to accept minimum offer from Miami.

If that means more minutes for Jordan Hill, that's good news.

I'd actually rather see Hayes play C then PF. These days, it feels like your PF has to be the more dynamic scoring player, which your C is a utility guy.

That said, Chuck's abiltiy to take charges, switch on a guard, and slap at the ball does not outweigh his inability to guard the rim.

There is no doubt he is a great weapon. My original post was referring to last season with chuck anchoring us at center and not wanting to have to witness that again. Even though he did as remarkable a job as anyone could have asked of him, I prefer him not have to prove he can do it again.

I must rephrase my original comment for you. There is a reason he was the only 6'6" center consistently starting in the NBA.

David part was my trite contribution to sarcasm.

Derailing and turning this into the wagon is a center/not a center thread aside, having damp as another option at center would be a good thing.

The rocket should offer the LLE to Teodosic

I like Hill at PF but from what I saw this summer, Hill <> C.

Agreed. But Teodosic has no reason to want to come to the Rockets as the third-string PG, especially when he can make as much (or more) being a star player in Europe.

The only way I see Teodosic accepting such a deal is if Brooks is traded.

    @samickAOL

Sources say Dampier choice is really only down to Miami and Houston.

Fesenko waiting on word, as Rockets and Cleveland (and Jazz, of course) have shown interest in him. Should all be resolved by the weekend

There are clear indications that the Heat have the lead in the Dampier sweepstakes, though.

If Brooks is traded for getting Melo, he could have a shot at grabbing the starting spot at PG, or at least having plenty of minutes as a backup, at 6'5" and being good shooter, he could also get some minutes as SG.

Rockets FO could get Teodosic a chinese shoe contract (what they did with Scola), to make his earnings at least at the same level of his european salary.

I think few teams in NBA have the chinese market to attract players. If they sound convinced, Teodosic could understand the potential of becoming popular in China, as happens with Scola now.

Did you just compare 4 time DPOY, 8 time all-star, 2nd all time in block to Ericka Dampierina who does not even have one all-star appearance?

Is ED still thinking about his options? Much talk about signs pointing to ED being in Heat since yesterday, but no announcement of decison as of right now.

i think we may be screwed a little at the center position.

Neithe Yao or BMiller can play big min's.

I bet we go small a lot this season. Hope for the best

make it sound like we never went small at all last season

the way i see it yao' 24 mins at best, miller is 20 mins and the rest goes to Hayes and Hill based on what the team needs and matchups

Lets assume, conservatively, that Yao gets 20 minutes and Miller gets 20 minutes a game. I think the Rockets can find 8 minutes a game in which the opposing team's "center" most likely a backup who is either a big stiff or an PF, can be "handled" by Hayes, Hill or Patterson.
The vast majority of other teams are not gonna have elite (or even above-average) level size on the court for 48 minutes a game.

The only exception I can think of is the Lakers, but I'm happy enough with Chuck on Bynum or Gasol for 8 minutes if need be.

He knows that if he signs with the Heat, he will be their unofficial donut boy.

This and also another tweet by the Heat's beat guy saying that Riley made it known that it would be a compeition for the Center spot.

Probably thought it would be a given he'd start at center.

We should be trying to get Chris Anderson to take over the backup Center slot behind Yao.

He's versatile enough to play both center and power foward and has pretty good range and is an excellent weakside shotblocker.

I say we use the Ariza TPE to get him, if we are in the hunt for Melo.

That's not fair, the Heat will have the 2nd best center in the league, plus the MVP, plus th best power forward in the league, and the 2nd best shooting guard too. :(
