Cook Cook probably has an agent working for him (like the Jerry McGuire character in said movie); maybe he'll end up playing for some other NBA team, or play in Europe.
Exactly. This move indicates to me that Daryl Morey is content to wait until this summer to make a bold move, and that is beginning to look like an attempt to simply sign Paul Millsap outright as a free agent, which means that Morey can hold on to all of these promising young players, which is maybe what he's been planning to do all along here. I do think Morey will make two moves between now and July 2013 to clear cap space: a) trades Patrick Patterson for the highest draft pick possible (hopefully a late first round pick, more likely a second round pick) and b) declines the team option on Carlos Delfino, who is rendered superfluous by a Paul Millsap signing, since Marcus Morris would be able to inherit Delfino's spot in the rotation. Terrence Jones would be able to inherit Patterson's spot in the rotation. Oh, and dumping Cook has no effect on Houston's ability to ultimately trade Scott Machado to Chicago for that Richard Hamilton-first round pick package before this year's February trade deadline. My projected 2013-14 roster Starting lineup PG Jeremy Lin SG James Harden SF Chandler Parsons PF Paul Millsap (replaces Marcus Morris) C Omer Asik Key reserves Marcus Morris (replaces Carlos Delfino) Patrick Beverly (replaces Toney Douglas) Greg Smith Terrence Jones (replaces Patrick Patterson) End of the bench/developmental league Donatas Motiejunas Royce White James Anderson Player drafted with pick obtained in the Patrick Patterson trade Player drafted with pick obtained in the Richard Hamilton trade Mystery addition (Jon Diebler? Furkan Aldemir? Undrafted rookie?)
Agreed. Milsap doesn't fit on this team. You need an athletic PF who can play above the rim, has a high boards per minute rate, block a few shots and can also shoot the 3. He's only got 30 3pt shots made in his entire NBA career.
Millsap not only doesn't fit, but he's is surely not going to get us over the hump of true contention.
Cook sucks, and he's fully developed. Hope Anderson can develop into something at least, he's the same shooter as Cook and a better defender. He doesn't feel the need to shoot all time though so that's a plus.
Possibly Terrence Jones. He's looking good in Dleague. He's definitely athletic. He just needs to put it together when he gets actual court time. Hopefully, they'll leave him in RVG for a month or so to build experience and confidence.
What? Is that why Marcus is averaging more PT's/Reb's in less minutes with less FGA's? He's also shooting much better from the field and from 3. http://www.basketball-reference.com...m=0&p1=delfica01&y1=2013&p2=morrima03&y2=2013
You said you didn't want Millsap and your sole reasoning was that someone was taller than him. Try harder next time, kid.
