9-10-14 @nesn "Report: Brandon Bass Selling Home In Needham, Could Be On The Move http://t.co/UiCWrk3yQ2 " ---would be a solid PF, vet locker room playoff experience guy, midrange game, good ft shooter, expiring, will bang with ibaka/Griffen etc.
When did he say that? just a cpl days ago he was interviewed and said he'd opt out and look to sign early in free agency.
That's all fine and good, but on a high level, the point is why would he be so salty to Houston when the Suns (the team he's openly said he wants to sign long term with) undervalued his talent more than anyone else when they traded him as cap fodder in a deal for another PG? To me, it just doesn't seem like Goran's character to openly bash people around the league that gave him a shot & embraced him. Every time I've heard him speak, he seems like a real class act. Athletes have to draw from some sort of well for inspiration I get that, but in this case I don't know the context of Cyberx & Goran's conversation at the bar or whatever to know what the hell he's talking about and getting at, and in my person opinion, it sounds like he's jerking our chain a little bit for a bit of good fun. No offense Cyberx, but I'm not an idiot. You want us to take those type of statements more serious, give us some context. -As for the Suns moving PG's... Its not like they have or will have the 36 million invested the Pelles have invested in their back court. Isiah Thomas signed a respectable sized declining scale deal (is probably more suitable coming off the bench anyways), Dragic has another cheap year left, I would be shocked if the Suns pay Bledsoe any more than their fair offer, and Dragic & Bledsoe showed last year that they can play very well next to each other. I don't get the whole "Phoenix can't pay all these PG's argument". Did none of these people watch Phoenix Suns basketball last year and see Hornacek's system? Do folks just not realize that the Suns aren't really paying Dragic & Thomas that much this next year? In a league where the Lakers are paying Kobe Bryant, Jeremy Lin, and Nash 48 million, and the Pelles are paying their back-court 36 million, I think Sarver will sleep well at night knowing that he's paying 26 to 28 million next year for one of the better 3 guard rotations in the NBA on an extremely fast paced basketball team whose most expensive big man is a 2nd year player making 3.6 mil, and most importantly... they are far under the cap so it doesn't matter one bit. I get that Phoenix & the Bledsoe situation are interesting to watch, but I don't get the whole "Phoenix has to move SOMEONE" argument. Just doesn't make sense to me, and I hope Morey isn't just desperately sitting there waiting on Phoenix to hand him over a PG this October cause that's wishful thinking.
Could and likely means nothing, but this is the type of thing that peaks my interest. Just like with LeBron earlier this offseason, when personal assets start to move, the person isn't far behind.
Charlotte Bobcats will offer free agent point guard Goran Dragic a contract, per source, likely in the $9 mil per year range. — Legion Sports (@MySportsLegion) July 5, 2012 http://www.atthehive.com/2012/7/4/3138021/bobcats-targeting-goran-dragic-will-reportedly-make-offer It's hard to find reports and tweets that are 3 years old, but it was common knowledge then. I think it was said to be 9,5. Of course none of it was officially confirmed, much like what Houston offered, and what Dragic demanded from Houston. All we know is the contract he signed with Phoenix, the rest is speculation. Dragic never said, he didn't signed with Houston because of the player option, he said they were far apart in their negotiations and mutually decided to go their separate ways.
With the exception of your lineup's point guard. That Ramon Ranjo....what a bust! Ever since he came into the league!
Has there been any indication at all that we're going after Rondo? Or is it the standard Morey goes after everyone.
Not enough spacing. Rondo and Bass are both mid-range shooters (good mid-range shooters, but still). Love the defensive potential though.
This whole spacing issue is being blown out of proportion. The Lakers didn't have muc spacing when Pau and Bynum were clogging the paint when they won the chip. Fisher was the outside shooter and a meh Artest. We still have Ariza as an outside shooter and you'd see a lot of small ball with Bev, Rondo, Harden, Ariza and Dwight. I think you put the best team you can out there and then get the coach to figure out a way to make them mesh.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/phoenix-suns-goran-dragic-says-142021630.html I don't know how anyone could read that any other way than "I'm going to resign long term to a larger deal & all signs point to the Suns being my #1 priority". However as it was stated later in the article Look anything is possible next Summer when he opts out if the Suns drop the ball, but its clear as day to me that he's intending on signing long term with the Suns if they offer a fair contract which all indications should be that they will. Which for now should keep Dragic convo in the GARM to a minimum but instead it seems to have done the opposite.
Good find, but I do have to add that I wouldn't go as far as to quote this contract offer as "common knowledge". It doesn't look like Charlotte was ever really at the table with a contract in hand to offer that was anything we can nominally quantify against the Rockets contract offer. I remember the 10 mil per year target coming from Dragic's camp, but don't really see any contract details from Charlotte from what you are showing me with the Sports Legion tweet that says "likely", and we don't know the terms which always plays a major factor. Regardless its a moot point. More than likely, since the Bobcats were one of the worst teams in the league at the time, the Bobcats were probably shut down pretty quick partially because of that. At team like that would have to significantly overpay a free agent in that scenario regardless.
As far as I remember, they did offer him an actual contract, but it's besides the point, he didn't want to go there even when offered more money, which was my point all along. The poster I was quoting said that the only criteria Dragic will use is money, when obviously that wasn't his top priority the last time he was FA, and you can expect a similar situation next year.
This will likely be Dragic's last major contract. A team and situation like Charlotte as they were then might not have been best for Dragic to get the contract he will sign now.
