Good to have a visit from cyberx, even if it's to duck in, duck out. Now if only Plowman would make an appearance, but between naysayers and probably nothing new to report, for him, it might amount to a, "Why bother?"
The more and more I think about it, the more I hope the guy we get is Bledsoe. Locking up Bledsoe for 4 years, alongside Harden, effectively gives us the best back court in the league for the next half decade, maybe longer. Dragic would be great in the short term, but I really just don't want Rondo or Rubio much at all.
All quiet on the Western Front... Dropped some knowledge around the Terry trade but nothing since. Still full-steam ahead and still waiting on the first domino,BLED,to fall. Made a few Doc-like references to Minny.
I seriously doubt the rumored PG's are that much better than Bev in our system. Considering their age/injury history/salary/contract situations, I wouldn't trade anything for them(welcome if they come for free -- still takes up capspace). IMO our current assets and young players are going to appreciate in value over time. We learned our lessons through 'lucky' 'unsuccessful' trade for Nene&Gasol(turned our assets into Harden&DWH later).
Bledsoe goes a long way to making the Rockets an elite defensive team. Last year he was arguably the best one one one perimeter defender in the NBA. He would help Harden a lot in that regard. He is also an elite penetrator that sets up open shots for those around him. My issues with him are his health and style of play. He has to keep developing his game or he will age about as well as Steve Francis. Last, the Rockets would have a lot of turnovers from their back court. Still, you could role out a 3 guard line up of: Harden/Bledsoe/Beverley. I don't know if just adding Bledsoe and Ariza is enough for a title, but it should be enough to pass teams like the Clippers and and Blazers. Also, San Antonio really struggles against quickness and Harden/Bledsoe would give them fits.
As Winkfan (and others) have noted, Jason Terry CAN be traded soon after the Rockets acquire him. HOWEVER, Terry's salary CANNOT be aggregated with other player salaries for salary-matching purposes for 60 days. Therefore, if the Rockets are counting on combining Terry's salary with Papanikolaou's to trade for, say, a signed-and-traded Eric Bledsoe, then the Rockets would either have to: (A) Wait 60 days after the Terry trade goes through; or (B) Construct the Terry trade as a three-team deal with SAC and PHX and try to overcome the various hurdles of matching salaries (including, without limitation, solving PHX's problems trading Bledsoe as a "Base Year Compensation" player). Hope that helps.
