If Trevor Ariza is the big offseason acquisition, and we lose Parsons, Lin, and Asik, then Les Alexander and Morey will both be the fools of the league after boasting that we would be loads better next year, and we would bring in a great player this offeseason. I think I'd be sick if this happens. At the very least, match Parsons and be done.
I just don't see it. Signing Ariza means we forfeit our TPEs and lose our MLE....plus we lose Parsons for nothing. Ariza isn't the answer, and I doubt Morey is considering it.
yeah, If I'm Ariza I'm careful about signing with Houston. I recall Morey saying something to the effect that signing him from LA was a 'mistake' and mistakes get fixed...and now we want him back ROTFL. ...do not want anyways. He is not an upgrade over Parsons. Let the team gel, TJones and DMO will be better next year with experience, lets shore up the bench and keep our eye out for trades down the line.
This, i would not be surprised if Dmorey plans to pick up Deng or Ariza and still match Parsons, remember we lack D on the perimeter and that was something we tried to address by bringing in Hamilton. If we sign Deng keep Parsons and bring someone like say Zaza Pachulia i think we'd be okay and have improved our team.
Damn I had already talked myself into Deng. I really think he'd fit nicely here, Ariza is kinda up in the air to me but he is a little younger.
In comparison to Bosh, Melo or Love, of course everyone from now forward will be an underwhelming signee
What about Shawn Marion? Match parsons use part of mle on Marion and the rest on guys like jameer Nelson and Anthony morrow Or See if Chicago willing to give up Gibson and dunleavy in a boozer trade. We can give them dmo Capella and a future second perhaps?
This thread isn't making me feel any better!.... We went from possibly getting Lebron,Melo,Bosh,Love to Deng and Ariza? I see desperation moves at every corner! ....... ....... .......
i refuse to believe Morey will pay Ariza on anything but a value contract, and Ariza isn't signing a value contract. There really aren't any more UFA's worth stretching on Parsons for. All this Ariza talk just might be Morey trying to gain leverage in trade negotiations ...hopefully.
I have to ask...why are we expecting a big trade or signing? There is a good chance we will let parsons go to the mavs and i would be okay with that considering his contract. Which free agents are unrestricted that are worth signing to keep parsons? I would not mind stephenson, but i dont see les paying all that money for a backup. The thing is he can back up the 1-3 position. So you take out bev first and he plays the one, then parsons and he plays the three and finally harden and he plays the 2. He could still get 33 minutes off the bench because he is so versatile. I would absorb josh smith if the pistons give us a future first. This team needs versatile players. I dont see us getting love or rondo now because teams dont want parsons contract. Ryan anderson is good, but the pelicans seem to like him.
Mandry would be good. I just hope people stop hsting on morey for treating his players like assets. He was so loyal to parsons that he decided to keep him instead of trading him for rondo AND he let him out early somhe could get paid sooner. With the stats parsons put up (10 3s, 10 rebounds in the playoffs) you just knew he was gonna get paid. Morey did care and i dont think he hesitates to match if he was getting 12 million per.
