Eh... If I'm in the East and I think I can build a team that can me to the finals, I do it. Can a Heat team that consists of a core of Dragic/aging Wade/Bosh and Whiteside make it to the finals? If you get there, anything can happen.
"future security"? I never said anything about that. Dragic would actually be turning down a larger contract, so he'd be passing up "future security" to go play on bad teams in big markets.

Why would they care? In fact, I would almost guess they DO send him to a team he doesn't want to play for. If Sarver is pissed, his best revenge is to make Dragic lose his 7% raises and fifth year, which is tens of millions of dollars. If the Rockets offered just Terrence Jones, that is much better than anything Miami, NY or LA could offer, and it screws over Dragic. Hell, Id trade just Jones for a Dragic, even if it was just a rental. Significantly improves our changes this year.

We're not quite in Phoenix's situation. We actually have a playoff team and potential title contender put together right now. If Dragic seriously wants to bail on that this summer to go to the Lakers or Knicks who are both in the midst of rebuilding projects and just saw their respective star players have season-ending surgery, that's his choice. But it says a lot about his priorities.
Then they're likely keeping him. NY nor LA don't have the assets or aren't giving them up. We'll just sign him in free agency! Miami, we'll see.
Do you take Dragic as a rental if: (1) You know you need to thin out your PF rotation and would probably try to move TJ anyway (2) You have no intention of drafting the NOLA pick
