Most prestigious film festival. Last year top prizes went to Tree of Life, Drive, The Artist, Take Shelter & Melancholia.

This year the USA is represented by Wes Anderson, Jeff Nicols (f-ck yeah!) and Lee Daniels (WTF?!?!).

Two Oceania productions set in the US, Andrew Dominik's (Chopper & The Assassination of Jesse James) Killing Them Softly and John Hillcoat (The Preposition) Lawless. Killing Them Softly was originally titled Cogan's Trade and stars Brad Pitt as an Irish Hitman. Which leads me to ask, Why the fudge would you rename a solid gangster film after a Roberta Flack sounding song. Lawless is about bootleggers in in 1920s Virginia. Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman star.

And finally a French Production of Jack Kerouac's On The Road with Kristen Stewert and the guy from Tron.
