They bring Bryant and Russell, and now competing for the playoffs.

We lose our SS for 2 months, Correa is killing double and triple a, so we bring him up, right? We have 2 guys struggling, hitting way under .200 at 1b/dh, we have a guy that plays both of those positions in triple a, with 13 homers, so we bring him up, right???

If it was the Cubbies, those 2 guys would be in the majors right now, but we are the astros, so we need to get stuck with Villar and Carter.

    Thank you very much

Based on their respective records, it certainly seems so.

Yes, and why is that? It took a injury to Peacock, Obbie, Deduno, and Straily struggling big time in the minors for the Astros to have Mc pitching in the majors. And lets see once Obbie is up, if Mc stays

When exactly should they have called him up? Last season, he had an ERA of 5.47 in A-ball.

Don't forget Tucker too. And it's not like Singleton won't be called up this year.

I'm all about not caring how much ownership has to spend to win, but you have to ask if a month of Correa is really worth 10+ million down the line when we're a competitive team looking to fill holes in free agency. Plus it's not like he has a ton of AB's above A ball.

Singleton put up big numbers in AAA last year too and fell flat in the Majors. Not to say he'll do that again, but considering how much the team traded to get Gattis and the year Carter had last year, it's worth having Singleton show some consistency before being called up. Plus, he's block by several players.

Bryant should've been brought up last year, and the Cubs waited on him as well this year. So the Cubs are a bad example of "let's win now at all costs."

I think Santana, Singleton and Correa will all get a shot this year. Correa is really the only one being kept down for money reasons.

All our dreams will have come true by August 1st.

The front office doesn't want to be short sighted which is understandable. The penny pinching is annoying in the case of Correa.

In Singleton's case they just don't know who the get rid of I think. They invested some decent prospects into Gattis so they want to give him every opportunity. They also don't to lose Carter in case Singleton sucks again I guess but I think it's a risk worth taking. Singleton can't really replace anyone else on the roster so they need to just grow some balls and pull the trigger.

Well Bryant had played 77 games and even then they waited to get an extra year of control. They did what we did with Springer. Not to mention their third basemen was Olt.
Russell had more games played above A ball, so meh.

McCullers skipped AAA. I don't think you can complain about the speed at which he reached the majors.

On your initial post, I don't think 10 days of data is enough to say he's "killing AAA"

    A. Who gives a **** what the Cubs are doing.
    B. Ignoring A for a second, the Cubs did the exact same thing to Bryant to start the year.
    C. The Astros have a 5.5 game lead.
    D. McCullers recorded his first W as a 21 year old yesterday.
    E. I'm going to kick my own ass for posting in this mouthbreather thread.

Whenever we start modeling ourselves after Cubs is when I start to be concerned.

This thread is so dumb. Astros have a better record than the Cubs.

What i am trying to say is, we need Correa in the majors, and Singleton.

I like Gattis, he will hit, but we can't have Carter struggle for so long when we are competing for the playoffs, especially when Singleton is having a great season in the minors.

Villar, well, i dont trust him, either defensively or with the bat. Marwin, i do like him, but as a utility, not as a regular. We are not going to use Correa for 1 month, if he hits he stays, and we move Lowrie to 3b.

Just be patient. After the All-Star break our line-up will look like this:

    Altuve
    Correa
    Lowrie
    Springer
    Rasmus/Tucker
    Gattis
    Carter/Singleton
    Castro
    Marisnick/Tucker
