Whatever - Morey screwed up by putting Parsons on the market. It's a bit of arrogance to say you didn't see something coming or when a player feels unvalued. It's Morey's job to make Parsons feel like a key piece of the team. Morey should have been smarter about the whole 3rd star bit and instead talked about getting "Another star". You are dealing with a young man you can't assume anything when a guy is on the market. Right now our team isn't in a great place. We have two stars, Ariza, and then things look pretty thin. Not going to win with Howard and Harden alone and our options for upgrading look thin. We are back in the YaoMac era - except Howard is no Yao and Harden is not as unstoppable as T-mac was. Sucks for us.
I suspect this is partly Cuban getting back at Morey for his apparently gloating last summer after getting Dwight Howard. There was something Morey had said or tweeted last year that annoyed him, but I don't remember what it was.
Cuban turns an underpaid player into an overpaid player, and calls this a refutation of analytics. I love it.
with all the negative public comments coming from Parsons and Cuban it seems to me the Mavs are trying to manufacture drama with the Rockets in hopes of grasping at some semblence of relevance...
so hard because i view cuban as a huge role model in my life but damn he screwed my love for parsons. being a florida gator fan makes this even harder watching and supporting chandler for 7 years now
Morey loses our best most valuable asset for no reason, and says I was going to match after we signed Bosh, yet all you heard was Rockets interested in every single sf across the world. I love it.
Its called a contingency plan. Without one, we'd be signing Richard Jefferson and Marvin Williams right now
Cuban bought the Mavs in 2000 - Dirk was already on the team by then but in that perspective it took Cuban 11 years to "build" his team Morey has only been on the job for 7 - he still has 4 more years to go to match Cuban
I missed that story... so Morey thought Howard would sign with GSW? And he wanted Dirk? Man, Morey wants Dirk bad.
Trust me, that "overpaying Parsons" contract will hunt the Mavericks forever. And the Rockets will bounce back anyways.
You troll. They had to fight and claw for the 8th seed last year after missing the playoffs the year before. To the ignore trash bin you go. I've had enough.
Even then, Parsons will opt out after 2 years to seek a bigger payday. Unless it prevents another star from coming to Dallas, it's really not a bad contract for them.
