According to a Seattle article, they are receiving around $2 billion over 20 years. The same article speculated the Astros would see $1.6 billion (prior to this whole CSN mess). Nowhere in the article you reference does Crane say he expects Mariners money. He implied that their TV deal enabled them to help pay Cano. Wouldn't you agree with his Cano comment?
It could be possible that providers who got a discount for the loss of Astros and Rockets may have the ability to elect not to pay for that programming should Fox require it. It would depend on how the provision in the contractual amendment that granted the discount was written. CSN H was a 20 year deal and the decision could have been to drop the contracted rates for the duration of the deal without any disclaimer verbiage in the event the teams came crawling back.
Not sure what the difference is. He used a seemingly real world example as to the fact that Seattle has a deal and was able to spend a lot on Cano who is considered a good player. Do you agree with his statement about Seattle and Cano?
If there were any offer out there that was remotely profitable, that point would be great. The only offers that have been thrown into evidence are ones the judge said weren't worth taking. So regardless of what he expects...or what he says he expects in the media...no deal has been presented to him that makes any sense.

Wow, that's a point I haven't seen made before. Wouldn't that suck to finally set fire to this whole CSN Houston thing only to find out that not even FSSW would take the Astros back?
They'd take them back, but probably just restrict their coverage to the Houston market. The Rangers don't get high ratings in Houston... they'd gladly take Astros games, and the local advertising that comes with it in this market. Problem is, it will go back to how it was in the early 2000's... as soon as the game is done, its DFW programming. Would be nice if they can get a buyer for the CSN network... as its content for local sports exceeds anything that has been in the Houston market ever.
Just in case any of you haven't seen this yet... http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/c38fb80a0d/comcast-doesn-t-give-a-f-ck
Why would he do that, given that it's not how the Astros want to run their team? It's not like Oakland runs their team that way by choice.
He NEVER said that. You called out MadMax for not answering your question, yet you continue to not answer mine. Do you agree with Crane's statement about Seattle and Cano. It's simple. You either agree with him that Seattle's TV deal helped them pay Cano, or you disagree with him. Which is it?
