I mean, is it really screwing up the game? I think the previous system was falsely rewarding offensive rebounds. You get 24 seconds a possession, 8 to get it to half court. I agree that 14 might not be the right number, but I think they could have picked 16 as the number. I think 16 also gives you a chance to get your rebounder to hand the ball back to your ball handler and reset the offense. The whole 24 seconds was overkill if you ask me.
I'm just having fun. 2 seconds would be hilarious. I hear you, but offensive boards and rebounding and defense are awesome to me. I know that's not what sells tix or ad time to casual Saturday afternoon NBA fans. I get it.
So when we compare 2019+ stats to prior to 2019 stats, are we comparing apples and oranges? Will the future generation say, oh he only averaged 30 ppg, he’s mediocre.
This is rough to watch. I feel like the 3s and small ball was already distorting the games. There was blowout after blowout last year. It’s a sugared up game now. The only thing missing is having 8 pointers if you step on certain areas like in NBA Jam.
