LA Crawfish is really good. Blu in Sugar Land isn't too bad either. There's a lot in Chinatown that is pretty good but forget the names.
I think this was already brought up in here, maybe not, but Mardi Gras Grill is not Woodrows Heights. Same place, menu, ect. We went there about 2 weeks ago and the crawfish was awesome. Highly recommend it
Yes, I brought it up, and I think you meant it is NOW Woodrows Heights, correct? I've been eating there for so long it's still hard to call it that. LOVE the fried frog legs. BTW- It is kinda dumb that they charge $2.50 for corn and potatoes and like a dollar even for butter. Weak sauce.
Hahaha yes my mistake. Meant to say "now" And yes the frog legs are damn good. I had them about 4 or 5 months ago sitting at the bar back when it was Mardi Gras
If going on the weekend be prepared for a wait. I think we waited for around 30 minutes just for a seat at the bar and we got there around 6:30pm. Eating crawfish at the busy bar was kind of irritating.
Do you guys use a side sauce? I do. Louisiana Crawfish seasoning + Parkay Butter (squeezable) + Lime = Awesome!
Sorry if it sounded condescending. I was just trying to say that 5 lbs of crawfish really isn't much since it probably was like less than 1 lb of actual meat, and half of that is water. It's only really enough to be appetizing. That summarizes Rajin Cajun pretty well. The meat and juice has no flavor. And the shells are sprinkled with spices. I don't think it came with corn, either, and it's like $22 for 3 lbs or so and 2 potatoes. The rest of their food isn't good, either. If you want to go just to say you've tried, wait for a Groupon. I don't even think it was worth the Groupon, honestly. I've had better crawfish at Chinese buffets.
Yeah Jolynns is good too. But I still think I'd rank Noodles over it. What I honestly don't get is the love affair with Ragin Cajun though. Been there once for a poboy and never been back.
^ This!!! wtf is going on nowadays...spent $16 on 1.75 lbs of small crawfish with 1 p/1c...my bro sent me this...crawfish noodle or boiling crab next http://blogs.houstonpress.com/eating/2013/03/houstons_top_10_best_crawfish_restaurants_2013.php
I know I'll probably bring scorn and humiliation upon myself and all of my ancestors, but crawfish are too much messy work for too little tasty payoff. Is there a place that will bring me peeled crawfish?
I could not disagree more. It's entirely subjective, but Cajun food is my favorite....and Ragin Cajun is better than fine. I prefer their shrimp/crab gumbo over any in town...I used to say that about Pappadeaux, but no longer. And yes they serve corn and potatoes with their boiled crawfish. Again...entirely subjective..but to say you've had better crawfish at Chinese buffets? Please. That makes me think you've been to Ragin Cajun one time and had a bad experience so you never went back. Chinese buffet crawfish is flat ass terrible.
If you're on the northside, try out Hebert's Hottails on Louetta. Its just a shack that primarily does drive through orders but the the crawfish are top notch. We have him bring his rig to our company crawfish boil and he does a fantastic job boiling and serving. His crawfish have really good flavor without being overly spicy.
I didn't feel like starting a new thread. Saw this recently posted: http://houston.culturemap.com/news/...uston-honor-thy-mudbugs-by-eating-them-right/ Do you guys have a preferred spot in Houston? What place has the best price?
Crawfish Shack in Crosby. If anyone disagrees, then they've simply never been. The place looks like a nightclub with all the people waiting to get in.
Saw they're opening up an LA Crawfish (viet crawfish place) in Austin. Anyone been to the one in Houston?
