My friend told me that the Rockets made efforts to land the following players this morning:
DeMarre Carroll, Wesley Matthews, Harrison Barns and Wilson Chandler.

    all expiring contracts

What you do is place an emphasis on backup point guard, not screw the team over with guys like MCW and Brandon Knight as your only options there.

Caroll and Barnes would be perfect.

Out of those options, the third one is the best. But I don't know what "valuable assets" we have to pull that off.

    Who handles point?

Funny people were saying Harden needs the ball and how he can be the point and shooting at the same time. We need a point to give us the beat. Harden is a finisher.

    Do nothing....except

    1) insert Gary Clark into the rotation again....more minutes for GGreen/House/Clark
Win with what we got, lose with what we got. Young players at least get some experience.

    2) move Knight’s contract by trading deadline:
CP3 ($38.5M), Harden ($37.8M), Capela ($16.5M), Eric Gordon ($14.1M) and Knight (at $15.6) next season
    is a no-go.

Knight is probably moved and possibly Eric Gordon by the trading deadline. The window on CP3/Harden is
getting narrower by the day. 1st round draft pick takes time to develop sometimes (see Fultz). FA vets will be a “quicker-sooner” move/chance to make this summer. That with our young players developing.

Trading Melo to the Hawks would be the ultimate irony.

Other players on the team have to step up and start playing better. I think Gordon has been playing ok the last few games, he should be able to get up more shots with CP3 out.

Clark should get more time. House should get more time. Maybe Knight can show some potential and shake some rust off. Ennis needs to get back.

On the trade front, I still prefer a 3D wing over a pg. We don't have many assets, I would like to see the rockets get chase Bazemore. Jlin or Rivers really wouldn't be ideal and would likely not fit in with the team very well.

Sounds awesome, but the Rockets don't have the assets to pull that off unless it's on the buyout market.
