I watched a little of it. Not a whole lot of detail but it seems to be an a&m student that was in that outbreak area. He checked himself in when he started getting symptoms and he knew that he was near ground zero. His symptoms were minor and he’s in isolation. Sample sent to CDC in Atlanta and they should get verification tomorrow
China is right now just recovering from a pig flu virus that killed 75% of their pork production...so... This is where the next global plague will originate.
LOL. I am dead. There's one joke on clutchfans that consistently brings me joy..that is the constant evacuation being done from Katy. But staying on topic, I am genuinely shocked there's not more of these cases. I was in vietnam in november and that place is filthy and they eat anything that moves. anything. cats, dogs, rats...you name it.
It's still surprising things are under control. A 11 million city under quarantine. This is unprecented. Any means of exit blocked by the army, prices of food and fuel tripled , supermarkets stalls already emptied.. hospitals sending patients away If it had happened in a big city my country forget the virus. People would burn everything down long before we get infected.
I want to hear more about your Vietnam trip. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/vietnam-tourist.279945/
The CCP is probably taking such strict measures with the quarantine because this weekend is the Lunar New Year, which also means hundreds of millions of people all over China will be traveling by train/airplane to go home to see their families. The timing of this outbreak couldn't be worse. That being said, the mortality rate seems to be much lower than SARS so far but we'll have to wait a few weeks to see how things progress. Overall I personally feel that the hysteria in the media is overblown relative to how bad the virus is so far. The flu kills 10,000+ people every year in the US but you don't see people freaking out about that.
