The main thing I’ve learned from this thread is if that I ever vacation to China, I should stock up on MREs.
[watching videos of bat soup] "People in China don't eat bats, they're not big enough" [rewatches video of a whole bat, in broth, eaten as soup] You suck, China. Sorry. Ease up on the shark fins and rhino horns, etc, while you're at it. Try not to cause the first ****ing global plague of this millennium.
Yes BUT Wuhan eats Live Fresh Donkey (Huo Jiao Lu). They cut the donkey parts when the animal is still alive and serve them dripping blood immediately. I noticed that the Wuhan Seafood Market sold live donkeys. Why is that? Maybe they cut the donkeys there and people ate the raw meat. And raw alive skinned snakes and live baby mice are also common. They are called “three squeaks babies” because they would scream three times: the first time when they are grabbed with the chopsticks, the second time when they are dipped in the sauce and the third final squeak inside the mouth of the customer. Let us not talk about monkey brains eaten with the spoon in South china or duck embryos. Or eggs boiled with the urine of small boys. Eating raw live animals ,many of them wild , causes diseases. Urine is also no good. Better don't click this link https://china-underground.com/2014/08/16/7-animals-eaten-alive-in-china-graphic-content/
I wouldn't say common but those are real. and ...... I did a little bit research and turned out dried bats are one of the Chinese traditional medicines. So yes,we Chinese do eat bats.I was wrong.
To be fair, what you said is right. The video of the chinese woman eating bat soup wasn't in China but in Palau. Turns out that the Pacific Islands, Italy and Africa are the main bat eaters. In China it is extremely rare. But it has made Weibo and the chinese public opinion turn against fresh game eating which is a very good thing. For hygiene, public health and for wildlife conservation. If we all survive this, I believe China will become a better place. People are being educated.
I think @malakas knows more about what Chinese eat than some Chinese brehs themselves. I dun even want to look at raw or cooked Oysters for that matter.
Eating live monkey's brain while it screams in pain... Slicing up and eating parts of donkey while it is still alive.. This isnt just about food. It's about taking pleasure from torture. Sick.
If I say in this thread, that I would love to eat most chinese food I know or reading about people will think I am crazy but yes. Except if it is raw, alive or wild. Or has urine. Or is an insect, a dog or a rat. I would probaly try snake once if it was vaccinated and from a farm. Eels are very tasty so wonder how snakes compare.
Many western Euros eat deer, boars, wild hares, wild poultry. Some also carry diseases however they managed to avoid it mostly. Snakes are not common in in flagship restaurants for more than 5 years, maybe some rogue restaurants still have it.
There are planes that every spring throw bait with medicine inside for wild animals especially for rabies. Aso most of the so called wild boars aren't actually wild. They are "biologically farmed" animals. Meaning there are special biological farms where there is even food provided to them in the winter, and there is veterinarian supervision. Why do you think now all of southern europe,Spain Italy, Greece has ended up being overflooded with wild boars who even cause road accident and go in the suburbs of cities like Rome? You can thank the EU programs for biological farming. I can't speak of deer or moose game because I have no knowledge of it. But hunting in Europe is regulated. If there is a suspicion of a disease in wildlife hunting is banned. Like for example with the chronic waste disease in deer in Scadinavia. https://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/press/news/170118 However always eating wild game carries risk. Noone knows if some animal new virus won't be created and you will be the first infection. Cooking the meat thoroughly is the best precaution. Discarding the brain, bones liver , bowels and kidneys also. When it comes to fish the risk is much less, because fish viruses don't infect mammals easily. Now if you go hunt orcas and dolphins noone knows what can happen.
It’s hard for me to believe that eating wild game (of any type...but properly cooked) could be worse for society (over the long term) than eating the meat we humans mass produce.
Homeboy did some damage at hong kong mall!! I repeat don't go to Hong Kong mall or anywhere in Bellaire. Bruce is coming for you! Someone call Brad Pitt!!!
