Does the USA not have the infrastructure, resources, avenue through policy etc. to do the same? You think, are there going to be made graves here too?
A study out of China indicates yes there are two strains -- WHO states no the Chinese study is wrong and there is only one. I haven't seen a third party weigh in on it yet.
Maybe compare more than one country per continent lol? Germany 3674 cases, 8 dead. Austria 602, 1 dead. Denmark 804, zero dead. Japan 738, 21 dead. Hong Kong 138, 4 dead. Italy and Wuhan are strong outliers when it comes to death tolls, comparing continents/races by only choosing one country each and the most drastic cases will always point an extremely misleading picture.
The WHO are mostly behind on this. They called it a Pandemic officially just 2 days ago, whereas they should have done it 2 weeks to 1 month ago. The WHO boss Tedros just repeating what other countries just found out, after days.
They seem to be perfectly positioned to contain it even if some cases appear over there. Kim Jong Un for leader of the year?

This is a very good article on how the virus affects each organ. It cleared up a lot of questions for me and led me to the conclusion that the US government is hedging on giving a comprehensive list of the highest at-risk types of people because the US is so unhealthy. This is what I’ve gathered but do your own research: -Very old (80+) -Anyone with chronic diseases -Obese (heart issues) -Smokers (lung issues) -Heavy drinkers (liver and kidney issues) -Older, lifelong heavy meat eaters (heart issues) Essentially, if you’re healthy, meaning you eat a truly healthy diet and get exercise daily, you’re probably going to weather the disease fine. And you can start getting healthy while you’re holed up. Start eating correctly, and I don’t mean a fad weight loss diet, start exercising daily- even pushups and sit-ups will go a loooong way.
I don't need to rely on an anonymous questionable twitter account. There are hundreds of Greek doctors working in Italy (Parma, Veneto, Milano, Napoli , Roma etc) and there are hundreds of thousands of greek expats living in Italy. I have seen their inteviews. Greek doctors there are saying "it's surreal, we think it's like a videogame. People are looking at you begging for help and we can do nothing anymore" They are saying " We have stopped everything else and every speciality is only dealing with the Covid-19. It is a war with no salvage" They are saying "All of our first patients are now dead. Now we are trying to help the ones who have come in the last days" This is from Parma, not Milano. They are saying " Save our nation don't become like here in Italy please " You think all of them are lying? These people come out to speak in public with their name and surname and picture on record. Aren't there american ex-pats in Italy?
No we aren't. We are betting on Containment, delay and Mitigation (aka treatment). Lower as much the% of the population that gets infected, deal with those who get infected and then try all crap to see if you can find a cure. Stall until there is a treatment and then vaccine. Herd Immunity means that about 70% of the population needs to get infected. It also requires that there is only ONE strain of the virus, or that there is cross immunity between strains. It also requires that this virus doesn't become an endemic virus epidemic like the flu, with new strains coming every winter, otherwise your "herd immunity" only works until next fall. Very simply this strategy of the United Kingdom, is nothing much different than if you were in the Middle Ages and you just left everyone to get sick, so the fittest survived.
0 water to be found in a lot of places and it looks worse than a hurricane preparation. I'm not looking for water myself, but for my friends and family. I told them fill up water using the water fountain at work, or at my work (filtered tank). I really want to smack the other friends and family who bought more than 15 cases of water, wtf. Then I said to myself someone else would of bought 15. Regardless, just enjoy the time off, if you can stay home. The worst cases are from cold climate countries, here and elsewhere. I believe there are other strains that is similar to Coronavirus. It is hard to fathom how Canada Prime Minister's wife, or Tom Hanks has it. Or North Koreans have it?!?!?!? 180 soldiers.... this is where I don't believe it. I think it their way to weed out non-committed North Koreans using coronavirus to cover.
I debated if I should post this, in case there are some people who take drastic measures without consulting their doctors , putting their lives at risk. But it is no time to hide information. The common drugs to treat hypertension and diabetes (ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers) potentially put people more at risk of the Covid-19. 13 million americans take these type of medicine. That’s my own assumption based on being a parent. BUT, I did do some reading and it looks like kids are very ‘safe’ compared to other ages. I’ll edit my post. Thank you!
The Spanish government is to put the country under lockdown as part of its state of emergency measures meant to combat coronavirus. According to a draft decree, Spaniards will be ordered to stay at home except to buy food or drugs, go to the hospital, go to work or other emergencies. El Mundo reports Spain's Interior Ministry will control all police forces, including local and regional ones, as part of the state of emergency.
