I have no problem with the restrictions its no secret other schools were coming after some of our players like vultures when Dickey resigned. That isn't legal but the NCAA is such a pussified organization when it comes to big money schools nothing would have happened so UH covered itself by saying you can leave but not just anywhere. There are over 300 division one basketball programs so telling them they can't go to 24 schools isn't exactly unfair. They can still go to whatever school they want they would just not allow them to be on scholarship unless they go to schools not on the restricted list.

I think all of those photos are from the press conference Sampson did a few weeks ago. Both Harden and Beverley were there.

Via Mark Berman: [rQUOTEr]Kelvin Sampson's contract at UH is a 5-year deal worth $1.1 million per year, including annual base salary of $550K. Kelvin Sampson's contract calls for him to get a two-year extension after the second year at Mack Rhoades' discretion. If Kelvin Sampson leads the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament he gets a one-time raise of $200K. If Kelvin Sampson leaves UH for another school his buyout is 85% of the balance of his total base salary. If he leaves for the NBA, 50%[/rQUOTEr]
I hope this thread is about to explode. So ready for UH to become a nationally respected basketball power again.
He will be the best coach behind Guy V when all is said and done. I thought the Dickey hiring was ridiculous, almost as bad as Levine on the Football side. The Coogs have really gotten lucky in landing Sampson.
I'm really excited about this season. Pollard may be the real deal. Rumblings of him to the NBA have already started.
Cougars all day! They about to turn some heads! With my boy , Lj, Jherrod stiggers, Leron and Mikhail and Chicken leading the way
I think it's great for the program...but how long do you really think he's going to stay should he be successful in these frirst couple of years? Will UH commit to being a top program and give him what might be necessary to keep him?
If he turns around the program, I think the money will come flowing in to keep him...but it is a concern that UH is all too familiar with. Success poaching. I do get a different feeling about this hire, though (and trust me, I'm absolutely no expert on any of the matters). CKS seemed genuinely sincere with everything he's done up to this point. And on the plus side...if he is successful, there's a good possibility that he will be grooming his son to eventually take over. Which is something I would be happy about.
