Normal cleanup isn't bad on the air fryer but if you start trying to experiment it can get messy quickly.
Your friend is probably not using food grade plastic bags and allowing water to get in. Sous vides make the perfect steak, whatever your preference. Its fool proof.
I still want to use the Sous Vide. I had the rib-eyes and borrowed the Sous Vide. The hang-up...I didn't have a big enough pot for that sucker to do its magic.
Hmmm, I've never had that problem. I agree with what @donkeypunch said he must have had some water get in with the steaks. I invested in a vacuum sealer right away and my steaks always come out perfect.
Got it ordered. Other than steaks (and pot, nod to @VooDooPope) , what else do yall use the sous vide for?
Pork Belly is a good if you know you're going to have a big gathering of people that want to eat bacon at breakfast. Sous vide the pork belly so it's fully cooked and then all you have to do is slice and give it a quick brown in the cast iron. Also if you like carrots. Most flavorful carrots I've ever eaten were sous vide. Season, thrown in some garlic and ginger, maybe a touch of honey and then put them in the sous vide.
I think I did 185F Here's a recipe online that calls for 183F https://recipes.anovaculinary.com/recipe/sous-vide-glazed-carrots
I bought the BOV900BSS (the bigger version with a couple more functions) for the same price a few weeks ago. Still haven't used it. LOL.
