Dont ever quote this, I am proud of how Patterson played. I dont really care if he had 8 points or 30 tonight, I just liked his power dunks. Please repeat PPAT
Even after factoring in this game, Patterson will still be up there with the worst of them: (last nights games haven't been factored in yet - PP will move up to 0.11 FTA/FGA, which was his average for last year) Last year the Rockets had four guys in the bottom-30 in FTA/FGA ratio (among players playing 20+ minutes/game) - Patterson, Lee, Budinger, Parsons. We got rid of Lee and Budinger, but acquired Delfino, who was 8th worse. Granted, much like Lee and Budinger, Delfino is a shooter who you don't expect to get to the line much. Also in the bottom-30 this year: Marcus Morris, who's merely ahead of Patterson with 0.14 FTA/FGA. Parsons has improved some, but is still below league average. Small sample size, obviously, but something to keep an eye on. On the flip side Harden and Asik currently both are in the top-10: Harden is 4th, Asik 6th. That coupled with Asik's improvement from the line and his "free throw defense" is a big factor why the Rockets are among the best in the league as a team in FTM/FGA, like Carl already pointed out.
He had a great game, but that one play where he got out-rebounded by Bargnani had me shaking my head.
hahahah:grin::grin::grin::grin:hillarious!:grin::grin: Boy i believe so much in patterson..pls morey dont trade him...
Patterson has such a sweet shooting touch, no doubt. If he could just diversify into doing more of the traditional power forwardish things like pounding the boards for offensive rebounds, screening for guards, etc., then he would be a fantastic player for any organization.
That would be Pat's ceiling in my opinion. Would love to see him reach his potential ...and then trade him.
There's been plenty of PF-C tandems in the NBA with high rebounding numbers. Rebounding is something that's innate IMO. You either can do it or you can't. No matter how much you practice at it, you can't go up more than a rebound or two per game than your natural level.
Hats off to Patterson. May this be his real breakout year. Throw out last year. Keep it up PPat, a lot of are rooting for you. After all, he's our veteran! lol.
From Elias: Patrick Patterson scored 22 points for the Rockets while making 7 of his 14 field goal attempts, including two of four from behind the arc. It was the eighth straight game for Patterson in which he made at least half of his shots from the floor. That's the longest current streak of consecutive games with field-goal percentages of .500 or higher for any NBA starter. ...who knew?? Keep it up Patsquatch!
