virtually impossible. he would have to sign another (another) contract. I am suggesting his game will never be the same again. he will have to reinvent himself and become the playmaker. sorry, Kobe fans. sorry, Laker fanatics.
The Lakers can afford the luxury tax I guess. Other than that the contract is ridiculous injury or not.
I would have been extremely hesitant to give him that contract. What were they smoking? Sure it gets fans in the seats during the first half of the season, but it screws them long term. Not a single player has returned the same or at all with this injury including much younger players. Kobe is 36, what makes him special? Most recent example is Billups, who was 35 and can't contribute after his achilies tear. Kobe completely ruptured his. Baylor, Brand, Sabonis, Archibald, Porter, Goodrich, Ewing, Isaiah, etc. All ruined from this achillies injuries.
Do you blame him? He finally got to be a part of the team and they were starting to gel. Now he's back to standing around and hoping to touch the ball a few times a game.
I said that about Derrick Rose too. I said that about Tracy McGrady too. Both were a lot younger when they got banged up.
http://dimemag.com/2013/12/10-reasons-kobe-bryant-back-good-basketball/ I can think of 29 reasons why having Kobe back is good for the (rest) of the NBA
Weird how despite his amazing career-best shooting, the Lakers did better without him in the lineup.. like they always do. If you expect that to change this year, now that he's a year older and more injured, I don't know what to tell you man.
he had a bad game but he didn't look terrible.. his timing has to be off.. that flow of being in the game. lets see if he can get it back but physically he looked fine
