I think the Rockets just have no interest at that price. Too bad. Hayes got to FA at the wrong time from the Rockets perspective. We just cleaned house and built a team full of expiring contracts and young players. He doesn't fit the team going either direction.

At least he'll certainly make more than enough to retire on with this contract. Kudos to him for accomplishing so much as a former undrafted guy.

By my rough calculation: $5M salary - 10% escrow, 41 games in California vs 41 games in Texas, so 1/2 of gross: $212,585 extra income tax per year assuming Chuck has a really bad accountant.

$4.3M starting with maximum 7.5% raises gets you even with the offer.

    Don't think it's worth it.

    Good luck to the ChuckWagon.

    Glad Morey won't match.

Crap. How ****ing depressing. I just can't see Morey paying Chuck 20/4. If we already had our superstar locked up, maybe, but he won't want a cap hit this large when he's still trying to deal. This is a blow to the team. We just lost a big part of why we've managed decent records despite the injuries. We just lost our best defensive mentor on the court. Sad news.

This, give Thabeet the minutes, rather crash and burn with potential than another # 14 pick.

See ya Chuck. Thanks got the memories.

If trade a Chuck for the Dalembert of late last season with the kings. He was great protecting the rim.

If recent reports are correct, Dalembert better protect his BMI with all these Tex Mex resturaunts in Houston.

I'd say that makes it a pretty good bet Chuck will be wearing one of those new black jerseys the Kings were hyping today.

He's from the area, so I'm sure he'll be extremely happy to be playing in front of his hometown crowd year in and year out.

Plus, he's still quite young and his game depends nothing on athleticism.

    woohoo!! go chuck!!

I am not surprised that a big man that averaged 8/8 while playing great defense got $20M. I just thought it would be from a good team awash with cash like Boston rather than a rebuilding team like Sacramento. Either way, best of luck to Chuck. He was a beast for us under two very different coaches and I think he'll be great for the Kings.

Wonder how the rest of our guys will feel and be affected by this.

Lowry said he would be "extremely upset" if Chuck isn't back and Patterson and Martin both said the same.

He'll be fine. He doesn't have a history of being Eddy Curry.

We need a rim protector in the worst way and now we have him.
