    Different player type
Tyson is a defensive force whereas Dirk is an offensive beast who plays more of a face up game

For sure. I'm not even sure what cod was referring to really.

All I'm saying is that relative to the total impact on the basketball floor, and relative to the age and contract of Luis Scola, I believe that Chuck Hayes is the better option. I value Chuck's defense against superstars far more than most, obviously. As well as his ballhandling/passing/leadership and new jump-hook that is really quite nice.

How often does an offer for an unrestricted Free Agent get released like this versus the first news being an announcement of signing?

Is the agent the source or the Kings? Why would the Kings be the source? Wouldn't it be wiser for the team to not leak that info?

So, is it the agent releasing the info to light a fire under the Rockets?

That is the exact reason why he is not the best fit on a Sac or Wolves team. He needs to be on a CONTENDER so bad, most of us realize that
I am sure he would be willing to teach the new kids on the block some new tricks but that should not be his ideal goal
His goal should be winning championships as a valuable piece aka Robert Horry who was the epitome of the player always in the right place at the right time
    Timing is key
    Love is love

I say $5M for chuck is fair. Even if we offered him slightly less, $4M in Texas goes a lot further than $5M in California. Also, he is not a center! For the 54568995th time! He is better than thabeet, better than Patterson, better than hill, and a lot younger than scola. If you are rebuilding/tanking, why keep scola who makes a lot more and is a lot older than chuck. At $4-$5M chuck will still be producing at the same level in 5 years.

Happy for Chuck. Yet, why in the world go to Sacramento? They're a franchise in the dumps (worse than we are) and their income tax nullifies the extra dollars he'd be getting. I know it's about the money, but Sacramento?

Geez, I like Chuck too, but if Hakeem can go to another team, and fans survive, than clearly Chuck can too....

He's from the area. I'd be like playing in his backyard.

My two biggest complaints are these:

    1) I'd rather see Chuck go to a contender and have the chance to make some playoff noise (although I'm glad he didn't go to the Heat or Lakers)

    2) With Battier and Chuck gone, we lack a lot of that veteran leadership we've seen since the end of the Yao era. Can we trust Lowry or Scola to become the voice in the locker room?

The team will be better for it. Chuck was a crutch that allowed management to go on without making the moves that obviously needed to be made.

We'll see the lane sured up sooner than later.

I tend to agree. So if the source is Chuck's agent, then he's just doing is job to get the Rockets to respond. Maybe a signing is not imminent.
