    Harden hates Bogut & Mejri

Harden likes Westbrook/Durant/Morris twins (they all workout in the summer....the twins with Rox players).

In the 6 games where the Rockets made 10 or less 3's and went 2-4, they shot a combined 59/204 or 28.9% from three.

To be more precise than that in the 2 wins where we make 10 or less threes we shot 20/61 for 32.8%. And in the 4 losses where we made 10 or less threes, we shot 30/143 for 21%.

In those 4 losses we averaged 35.75 three point shots attempted. In the 2 wins, we took 20 and 21 attempts respectively.

For the season we are averaging 39.7 three point attempts per game and making 14.6 attempts per game.

We average 39% from three when we win and 31% from three when we lose.

It's not about how many threes we make other than to define the three point shooting efficiency. When we shoot 40% or greater from 3 we are 13-1. When we shoot 30% or less we are 2-5.

    All true.

Which bothers me and tells me something. Morris twins are bad character and bad attitude. He shouldn't be hanging with them.

The reason I'm showing volume is because that is the system. MDA is trying to prove that "Keep shooting" is a winning formula. So, sure our 32-9 record when we make 11 or more threes can be said a result of shooting % (hence the 11 makes), that doesn't mean it isn't also a result of "Keep Shooting".

    ---------------------So Check this Out-----------------------

Rockets are 7-1 when making 11 threes and less <= 33%.

The next closest team only has 2 wins in that criteria, because most teams don't keep shooting them enough to make 11 of them. That's the point MDA is trying to make, and what I'm trying to analyze.

    -------------------A look at your stats-------------------------

So, let's look at your numbers again, and see what, if anything, volume shooting does.
(Keep in mind, we probably have the most possessions with multiple three point attempts in the league, if not history.)

First a slight correction: the Rockets are 14-1 when >=40% (I ran these numbers a few days ago)

HOU is 2-5 when shooting <=30%, and 14-1 when >=40%
    GSW is 3-6 when shooting <= 30%, and 20-0 when >= 40%.
    CLE is 5-4 when shooting <=30%, and 16-1 when >= 40%
These are the 3 teams with 30 wins shooting over 30 threes per game -- the volume shooters. Who's the anomaly here...GSW and HOU or CLE (for being more successful that GSW/HOU)...or is it too small a sample of 30% games?

When you look at <= 33%, we are better than everyone, except UTA.
    ------------------All Team Records at <=33%--------------

So, since teams rarely keep shooting at that low of a % to make 11 threes, let's see what all teams are at 33% or less, which should show "Live by the 3, die by the 3" theory, right? Well, it doesn't.
    1. UTA 11-8
    2. HOU 8-7* (fwiw: we have no games at exactly 33%, and only 2 above 32)
    3. SAS 6-5
    4. OKC 13-12
    5. BOS 8-8
    6. CLE 5-5
    7. GSW 6-6
    8. CHI 11-14
    9. CHO 8-10
    10. ATL 8-12
    11. WAS 7-11
    12. TOR 6-10
    13. LAC 5-9
    14. DET 6-11
    15. LAL 6-12
    16. MIN 6-13
    17. MEM 6-13
    18. SAC 5-12
    19. IND 5-12
    20. PHI 4-11
    21. NYK 4-12
    22. POR 4-12
    23. MIL 4-12
    24. DAL 4-13
    25. MIA 4-17
    26. ORL 5-20
    27. PHX 2-11
    28. NOP 2-14
    29. BRK 2-18
    30. DEN 1-14

Bottomline: Rockets are the 2nd best team when shooting <= 33%. That record is likely because we "Keep Shooting" while other teams stop on bad days, and the strategy helps our Ortg (pts per possession) vs the opponent.

    * I put HOU higher that SAS in the near tie, based on Net Win Pct between
games shooting less than 33% and games shooting more for each team.
that is, SAS performs worse vs their record than we do.

Yep, and it should come as no surprise to anyone that the Rockets aren't going to win as many games with Gordon being out or playing hurt.

I think our team is fine as it stands but that relies on all players being healthy, which is a big question mark right now. I would like to see Morey get us another shooter, possiblly Lou Williams from the Lakers and Leandro Barbossa from Phoenix. If you give Harden these kinds of options then the rest of the league is in serious trouble.

That ranking of 33% or less on threes kinda shows that if you are cold, it's still better to be cold from 3 than cold from 2.

Great thread. I think you'll also find a correlation with the teams the Rox have lost to being tall, athletic, big and aggressive teams mostly. Rox gotta work TWICE as hard to grab key rebounds in games which is exhausting. Teams that "get after it" are contesting Harden's Majic Johnson throws down the court. Not that easy to make passes when the lanes are cut off by length and height. Teams have adjusted and have the blueprint to use in the playoffs against the Rockets. Trade deadline looms
