Yep guys... another week of College football... Games to watch: Texas-Missouri Oklahoma-Kansas Alabama-Tennessee Florida-Mississippi State Clemson-Miami (looking forward to seeing this one) Penn St.-Michigan Iowa-Michigan St. TCU-BYU (prob the best game of the day) Should be another good slate of games on Saturday.
too bad you dont want something that happens more often. havent they won 20 of there last 21 games, which means they have lost once in the last year and a half or more.
It makes sense if you'd want Baylor or Tech or a&m or even UTEP to win, but rooting for Texas to lose to Mizzou, a border state, seems downright unpatriotic. Eat two jalapenos and down a six pack of Lone Star for your penance.
why start this thread super early i dont even think about college football until friday night its tuesday for pete's sake. everyone is still b****ing over what happened this past saturday
Michigan State worries me - It's been a long time since Iowa has won there. Go Hawkeyes! "We're certainly not the prettiest car in the lot," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said. "But that's OK. We're having a lot of fun. It was a tough game and my guess is we'll have five more like this." Oct 18, 2009
And here comes good old miserable Yoyo... Always finding ways to complain. All the CFB threads except 1 have started in or near the middle of the week... You might not think about CFB until Friday, but that doesn't mean others do.. What happened this past Saturday?
Winners think four days ahead. That's why they're winners. Losers only think a day ahead. That's why they're losers.
And here I thought the drive to Columbia took 13.5 hours, I must have gone the wrong way! I guess I'll get the analysis started. Honestly, whether Mizzou has a chance comes down to Blaine Gabbert's ankle. I think it'll be a completely different type of game than the one a year ago in Austin. MU's defense is actually pretty solid this year, and UT's offense has obviously regressed quite a bit from October 2008. MU on offense this year still runs the spread, but is very different from how they were under Chase Daniel. With Chase, it was a very horizontal offense with lots of YAC. Gabbert was the #2 QB recruit in the country a couple years back (5 star) and has a ridiculous arm downfield... but struggles with the touch throws underneath. You'll see at least 5 or so little eight-yard hooks that he'll just airmail to no one. You'll also likely see at least a play where he hits a receiver dead in stride 65 yards downfield. Think college version of Jamarcus Russell. He's huge (6-5) and deceptively fast, and when Mizzou started the year 4-0, the team's biggest offensive strength was broken plays -- he'd keep the play alive with his mobility, and eventually the defense would lose contain downfield, and his arm is good enough to fit the ball anywhere. But in the first quarter of the Nebraska game, he turned his ankle badly, and the offense hasn't been the same since - because he can't buy the time to let the downfield plays develop. He looked healthy to start the OSU game, and Mizzou jumped out to an early lead with 220 yards of first quarter offense... but he limped more and more throughout the game as he put more weight on it, and the offense went downhill with each quarter. So, long story short, watch how he's moving around after the first couple drives. If he's still feeling good, he'll make a couple of huge plays and keep MU in the game against a lackluster UT offense. If not, Missouri will struggle to score more than 10-12 points against a defense like UT's. I think Mizzou grabs an early lead -- it's basically the game of our season, primetime/national TV and homecoming, but UT's defense eventually takes command as Gabbert's ankle stiffens up, and McCoy makes enough plays to win it. I'll take Texas 23-17. (for the record, I picked Mizzou last year, and that was epic fail, so I'm trying the reverse. ) And yes, I'll be in Columbia! Woohoo.
