They did call it. Thank goodness the refs caught it. It's one thing to be hand fighting back and forth for position, but it's another to grab the other players face mask and push it when no one has the ball. I don't think the call was right though. That's not offensive pass interference; it's illegal use of hands, hands to the face. That should have been a 5 or 10 yard penalty. Oh well, Gig'em Aggies!

 

I think it's pretty easy not to call it when the defender has his hands on the receiver first. that was a bad call.

I was referring to the announcers saying that both players were just going for the ball and it should have been a no-call. There is a difference between going for the ball and pushing off of someone's facemask.

 

And when the ball is in the air it is OPI, if it happened before the ball was thrown, then it would be illegal use of hands

But the defender had his hands all over Sweed before that push off. I see what you're saying but it easily could have been a no call, only the back judge threw the flag, the ref in front of the play didn't make the call.
