McHale sat harden during 4th quarter that was a coaching move.

Who didn't laugh when Coach Lue says he has the hardest NBA coaching job. Who doesn't think Blatt was fired because Cleveland's GOAT? Harden became coach and tanked game 6 because he got tired, worn by the coach. Coaching is overrated.

What do you call it when a team loses Dwight Howard, hires a new coach, signs players to execute his system, reassigns the star player to execute the system, and wins 14 more games than the previous year?

I'd call that, in part, good coaching.

But I agree with you that coaches are credited or blamed for many things that are out of their hands. D'Antoni's previous stints make your case.

When talent is relatively equal, coaching is the difference.

McHale had a record of 56-26 and went to Conference Finals. (He also had a great 54-28 record the year before).
Dantoni had a record 55-27 and lost in 2nd Round to Spurs without Parker and Leonard at home in Game 6.

Its not coaching. Its Dwight declining under McHale and then the team improving once he left and Morey added new pieces.

but how many teams have 4 all-stars where 2 of them are MVP winners / Scoring champions, 1 is one of the few true 2 way players in the league than can drop 60 points through 3 quarters, a DPOY candidate, and a 6th man of the year candidate?

i mean yeah coaching only means so much when you have that much talent, but unless you have all that you need good coaching as well.

    I get what you're saying.

However Marc Jackson wasn't able to win a championship with Warriors.

    Yet, Kerr did.

The only that matters is business. Watching 'fixed' game after fixed game is unbearable. I hate the dishonesty in sports.

    Wrong!!

MDA blew the series against The Spurs. Rockets had better talent. I'm not going to say he was out coached.....Popovich just use common sense. Pop extended his bench and MDA didn't, it showed as the series progressed

    Exactly. More specifically...

    - Warriors went from 11th in points in the paint, to 3rd
    - Warriors went from 6th in pace to 1st
    - Warriors went from DEAD LAST in the nba in passes per possession to top 10

^ those #s might not be the exact final numbers in Kerr's first season but its around there.

I mean, Kerr wasn't the most important thing. Curry, Klay and Dray's improvement were the most important. Maybe Dray as much as anything since he was the permanent starter ... which was kind of a coaching move, though Jackson finally went to it in the playoffs his last year.

Putting Iggy on the bench was a coaching move.

Basically, there is no doubt in my mind that if the Warriors hire Derek Fisher as a coach instead of Steve Kerr, the NBA landscape is COMPLETELY different.

Case #3: The Rockets open round 2 in the 2017 playoffs by blasting the Spurs a new rectum by utterly thrashing them on their home court. Pop doesn't panic, keeps his troops focused, makes key adjustments, and then takes the series in an away game. A lesser coach (Doc Rivers, who is vastly overrated IMO) would have struggled to keep his team's mindset right after that Game 1 blowout.
