That is your opinion. I have a different one. Mchale had approximately the same winning percentage as Adelman with Lowry and Martin hurt much of the season. So you really are saying "With absolutely no statistics backing me up, I think that McHale coached badly". That sound like what should have been said.
Boom! Nailed it! People are clamoring for Adelman but some forget that we were a mediocre team at best once Yao and T-mac were gone. The last 2 years he was here he had the benefit of having most of the players coming back while having a full month training camp. Both years we barely missed the playoffs. Oh, and Adelman rarely played rookies. RARELY. McHale came to Houston for the first time without having training camp with virtually new players and new system and he still ended up getting the same record as Adelman. Now we are on the same boat again and people seem to forget that experience is a big key when it comes to winning games and being consistent. I wanted Adelman to stay but McHale seems to be alright. KMac might not be the best coach but he surely is not the worst.
Don't worry about these fools with the knee-jerk reaction term. That's what these threads and posts and site is for-discussion! The minute your worried about criticism is when your compromised. Say what you have to say and it's always a good thing if some people are offended, it means your being honest!
And I really don't think McHale is a bad coach at all. I like the fact that he is a players coach, but just like how the Rockets are a young team, McHale is a young coach too. Here is Doc Rivers' coaching record... and Rick Adelman's record with Houston... It's a combo of many things that needs to be executed by many people, a coach, players, and staff. I'm excited about what we have going down here, but a superstar isn't ever going to make this team...If that was the case, we would have some recent playoff appearances and championships...
I like the fact that coach Sampson put Asik back into the game in 4Q when we lose two consecutive boards to Anderson. (which we should never allow to happen, cuz Asik has been prolific in both ends throughout this game; if we have him in the HEAT game near the end, we may never loose boards to Bosh... I really do not understand this move, also from last season, the absence of Dalembert in the 4th) I think the inside presence of Asik and pat pat finally locked us the big W this game. I have sort of feeling that Coach Mchale might stick to the small line up, and possibly hand over the win.
Doc Rivers spent many many years under the legendary Gregg Popovich as a assistant coach before taking over a rocky Celtics, eventually leading them to a championship and finals. Rick Adelman proved himself already, putting together the memorable Sacramento Kings all the way to the WCF, where if not for questionable reffing, that no one doubted the Kings can win it all. His team put up legendary fights against the Lakers/Spurs dynasty(who went on to win every year since the East was a joke back then, the Western conference basically decided who won the ring) every year. I don't think you can compare them to a incompetent McHale who puts a live and die by the 3 system, taking 30+ 3's a game(2nd most in the league last I chcked) while being one of the worst in league at making them(28th last I checked) and still does this saying "we're a team that's going to shoot a lot of 3's" . A McHale who has no experience and done nothing while coaching so far, who got his position using his name as a legendary player. A coach who a player like Lowry proclaimed that unless he was fired, he would not come back. Player's coach my ass. A coach who makes a PG who put up legendary numbers as a first option(his 7 game run) taking 20+ shots a game, and then put up decent numbers as a 3rd option behind Melo/Amare taking 15 shots a game suddenly sit at the 3 point line every game taking 5-10 shots, half of those 3's; the same amount as Parsons, Delfino, Patterson, and even sometimes taking less than them. Who decides that Harden should be a ISO player against 3 people every other play since he looked like a superstar in the 1st 2 games instead of trying to work the Lin-Harden tandem that worked so well in the 1st 2 games. Such a bad, incompetent coach undeserving of any coaching position. Needs to be getting rid of ASAP.
My only request is to HIRE A OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT COACH, to design a offense into McHale System. All the players looks lost on the court. And have happened 3 times at the games ...when our players collided each other and lost the ball...
