Before last year, I would have agreed with you. But the Rockets have now taken over basketball operations in RGV. They have installed their own system, appointed their own coach, and can basically call the shots as far as which players are developed and/or featured. It's probably the single most underrated move the Rockets have made in a decade. Morey even said yesterday when interviewed by NBATV during the game that he wanted Jermaine Taylor to spend MORE time in the D-League last year but that Adelman loved him and kept insisting on bringing him back up. It's clear that Morey believes in the Rockets' "new" D-League experience for young players.
To be fair to Jordan Hill (or any other player for that matter), you are what you are, with improvements along the way. He is a 4, and I am not sure how long will the organization try this experiment. Hill just does not have the natural instincts of a center. As a Rocket, we all hope he will have that epiphany moment and say "Ok, I get it". Right now, I just don't know. While I understand Bima's article about being patient and waiting at the right moment to strike, not having a competent rebounder/shot blocker right at the onset of the season is a downer for me. The west is very tough, where even a relative small numnber of victories are determinative of important playoff seeding or non-playoff appearances at all. More than most fans here, I think we are close, but if Yao is not fully healthy by the start of the season, that center position may be our achiles heel. Again.
I'm almost glad... keeps other teams from asking for him in trades... basically keeping him in Houston!
Hayes is going to abuse PPat in training camp and I don't see why everyone can't see it coming. Chuck did not look like the same player late last season because he was playing out of position and just wore down. But he's going to be a monster in October knowing he'll have to kick butt for PT.
yes no way i was going to remember those questions off the top of my head like that especially with all the distractions in vegas
Freaking awesome job YoYo! Good read, great questions and intriguing answers by the GM himself. It's a wonder how far this site has come since its inception and you're certainly a credit to it. Well done sir.
