How? The Spurs couldn't beat them. What hope would we have?

If we don't upgrade the point guard position, Rockets are going nowhere. If Morey thinks a PG upgrade is not important, he is "basketball" stupid.

We have to take steps in order to become a contender. If we can go deep into the playoffs, it will bring us closer to the ultimate goal.

What is it you think a PG is going to bring to this team?

The Rockets need a wing defender and a better PF and they are good to go.

What steps? How do we defeat a team with the greatest player on the planet? And 2 top 15 players backing him up?

Do we gut our roster for Carmelo? Do we get other roleplayers and psuedo-allstars?

    Where's the blueprint?

I don't think trading Lin+Asik+possibly a pick to dump their salaries and then signing melo outright as a free agent would really be "gutting" our roster, but we would be significantly better than we were this year.

I want better ball security, higher shooting percentage, and more effective ball distribution. Of course you have to have an offense to run an offense, but that would be nice.

Considering we already have a top offense in the league and were the best scoring team in the playoffs, why in the world would you focus on this area? We have much bigger needs elsewhere.

We are talking about the PG position. We already have a defensive specialist at that position. We were the best scoring team in the playoffs? Why didn't we advance? We got outscored four out of six times in the first round. PG is not the only need for sure. We are obviously not set at PF, maybe not even at SF. Our SG has to start playing defense, and our center has to start making free throws. Our coach has to take a giant leap forward. We have several issues.

Your statement was "without a PG upgrade, we are going nowhere"

    I disagree with that statement.

Plenty of other much bigger issues that are holding us back much more than PG play.

Phil doesn't need a very good PG yo win championships for his team. It's only on how the coach utilizes the available talent. Why not get a 3rd star and upgrade the coaching position as well?

i wonder what would be DM's backup plan if Love goes to the Celtics and Melo remains in NY?
