[ClutchFans] Podcast: What in the world is wrong with the Houston Rockets?

Our offense struggled a bit to start last year as well, but we were playing elite level defense. Can't compensate if you are the worst defense the league. That god damn switching defense is intolerable to watch. Maybe we stop it once Dmo is back since he's the only one who can guard the PnR and still get back to his man fast enough. Him and Capela the only Rocket bigs who can do that right now.

 

The injuries were definitely a factor. That said, I don't have confidence that the coaching staff spend time developing and evolving the offense. And it lead to the Rockets players frustration. Conversely, the opponents took the time to figure out the best ways to neutralize the Rockets stale ISO ball.

 

Agreed, a second round exit looks like our best case ceiling for this season.

 

Harden is taking tooooooo many 3's. Why?????? We have 5 other players shooting better this year and he is taking two to three times more shots. Ugh......I wish we would trade him.

We're worried about the playoff's and it's seeding too darn early. Let's wait until after the all star break people. hahaah

 

He's shooting the worst percentage of his career, while his three point attempts are his highest ever. It's insane. It's textbook hero ball. It was supposed to be the exact opposite of what it was expected to be with the arrival of Lawson.

 

Only 1 game in the win column separating Houston and the 3rd seeded team OKC lol. Thankful that everyone in The West but GSW and SAS started SLOW

 

Three games in the loss column though, which is more important.

We have our work cut out for us, but it is possible.

 

True but even 3 games with as many that are left isn't that big of a deal. Especially considering Memphis, OKC and LA are struggling as well. I'm not to concerned with PHX, POR or Dallas being there at the end of the year. Still think we end up between 3-6

 

If I remember correctly, even last year Harden started the season shooting a lot of threes and the amount of 3 pt attempts reduced over time.

Also, not all of his attempts were 'hero ball' 3s. The first couple of games he was starting with Ty and got a few open 3s he just missed. Over the first couple of games his 3 pt attempts were somewhere around 11-12 per game, which definitely is not what you want. The last 5 games or so he is averaging around 6 3pt attempts per game, which is fair. His shooting will come around soon enough.

 

The leaders are just soft asses.

 

Don't really care about seeding. We know who's winning the title, so I just want to make playoffs and have a semblance of competitiveness.

 

Harden needs help and the Rockets need help with a legit ball handler. If Harden isn't going to play off the ball then Lawson simply won't work. Get Isaiah Thomas from Boston, dude gets buckets.

 

We didn't force the team to adapt to Lawson, now we are to scared to try to incorporate him

 

He has blown so many opportunities to incorporate himself. He chooses not to be aggressive and is a revolving door on offense. He talked a HUGE game in the off season and hasn't showed up.

 

When you come from a system where you run things to a system where you are now playing off the ball it's a HUGE change...

Lawson came in not wanting to mess up a system that was already in place and was and still trying to find his place. Your assessment of Lawson is just wrong.. I'm not the biggest fan of Lawson, but your info is just wrong..

think you're confusing Harden with Lawson with that wrong information

 

How so? Lawson has failed to show up time and time again this year. Lawson was the one running his mouth about Curry guarding him.

 

not really running his mouth. a lot of overreaction there. if you want to talk about running mouths it's harden and the mvp talk. theres plenty there you can work with.
