I'd only be down to trade DMo for Dragic if Jones makes it back. Without him we'd be much to short up front without DMo.

If Jones can make it back we'd be set IMO.

    Great podcast BTW.

Morey is the ultimate wizard if we nab Smith and Dragic and hold onto Dmo, Terry, Brewer

im fine shipping out nop pick, capela, canaan, johnson, pap to get it done

the depth we would have with dragic coming back, smith starting, and dmo anchoring the second team on defense and offense is exactly what we need to go deep into the playoffs.

We dont know that for sure. It would be almost idiotic at this point to ask him to start next to Dwight but then againlook at who our coach is. Smith should be used as Dwight insurance but they should not be played much together. With him coming off the bench it gives you the ability to reduce Dwights minutes.

Something I've been thinking about in light of the Rondo trade to Dallas.

A pick swap could be the solution to getting a trade done with PHX without giving away our 2015 draft entirely. You give PHX the right to swap their pick for the Pels pick...whichever one is higher. The you give them a future first (2016 or 2017) with similar protection to what Dallas got on their first round pick they sent to Boston. That pick will most likely turn out to be a pick in the 20's in the 2016 draft. Then you give them a future second to match the future second Dallas gave Boston. Then you give them another second or perhaps a pick swap in 2016 in their favor to match the trade value that Brandan Wright has. Throw in Shved and done deal.

Of course you've got to make the contracts match and we're probably going to have to take back Zoran. So Shved/Kostas/picks for Goran and Zoran.

And we've still got Terry's contract left over along with the Knicks pick to go get Brandan Wright.

We apparently were interested in trading for him and his 13.5m contract, so I'm guessing at 2 million they totally want him.

Yeah....we were willing to trade for his $13.5 million contract. If it came with Andre Drummond or two first round picks attached to it. That's why the deal didn't get done. Because Detroit was not willing to give up those assets to dump Smith.

(This will probably become public knowledge at some point in the future.)

D-Mo + NOP for Dragic? Lmao

Then who exactly backups Dwight? That's the stupidest trade. If we land Smith, our only weakness is backup center (not point guard). You wonder why Portland beat us last year? Mostly because Lopez's offensive rebounding & defense. Teams that can go super big usually kill us. Trading D-Mo for Dragic makes it worse. If I were Dwight I'd want someone backing me up that's over 6'8. We can not win a championship with Black & Dorsey as backup center

People need to relax. We're not trading DMo for Dragic. Not only would our frontcourt be too thin, but what's going to be the market price? It can't be that high; Dragic is an UFA at the end of the season. Rondo barely nabbed the Celtics anything and he's a four time all-star. What team is going to outbid a package of the NOP pick, possible future picks, and Pap? Some of you really underestimate Morey.

You wouldn't trade an unproven player for an all-star and all-NBA PG?

    Oh boy

Whole league knows we want to make a move at PG. Thy know Morey is restless. Phnx might not have leverage, but they know they can hold out on Houston. Houston is more incomplete of a team without dragic because of his skill set than phoenix is... and that gives PHOENIX leverage ...

IF there is anything the league knows it is that you don't win trades by making Morey wait. Morey will wait you out and you will be worse for it.

Morey won't make a hard move for Dragic throwing in the kitchen sink to get him. If he has to he'll wait until 2015 summer. And then PHX will be further up the creek and Goran will be ours for even less if Goran wants to come here. Morey simply doesn't allow himself to be bullied and pressured by other teams to give up more value than what he has a player rated for. There's always the next guy.

I'd love to have Goran but I'm all for sticking with the principle. Goran is an expiring contract. And as such he can walk away from us for nothing in the summer if he wants to. So, we can't and won't go all-in on him and leave ourselves hamstrung going forward if Goran decides to walk on us. That's not how Morey operates. Shouldn't expect him to start now.

Dragic ' s breakout was in the playoffs AGAINST the Spurs.

His creativity and ability to penetrate were huge in setting up teammates. Not he can shoot. This is proven and not your little theory that donatas will be able to put up 20 posting up in the playoffs. Dragic is also a guy who let's harden rest and forces defenses to readjust.
If push comes to shove, you have to pull trigger. Makes too much sense and easier to get big men who can knock down jumpers like T Jones or Channing Frye

At some point all players are unproven.

It's a nothing argument. People see dmo blossoming and think that right now and in the future could be a bigger help to the team than dragic.

Their only leverage is that they have Dragic's bird rights should they keep him until the offseason, so they might just roll the dice on him re-signing with them like Melo and Bosh did with their teams. The difference is that NY and Miami were offering $30 million more than any other team; Goran isn't getting that kind of payday.

Phoenix doesn't have many trade partners available. Teams that Dragic isn't interested in playing for won't trade much for him because he'll walk in the summer. Teams like NY and LA won't trade much for him because they can just try to sign him as a free agent later. Dallas just made their big PG trade. I honestly believe we'll put more on the table than anyone else, it won't be that much, and hopefully Phoenix takes it.

Its more of we trade DMo for Dragic 1 for 1 who will be our PF/C backup. We don't know TJones injury status. As of right now I wouldn't trade DMo for Dragic unless we know what's going on with TJones.

Lol kinda like he threw the kitchen sink at Bosh twice and came out a loser? Morey has had 8 years. The clock is ticking and it's become apparent this team relies on godly performances from harden to pull through against better teams. That is just as risky as hoping guys like Terry, Beverly and Ariza can consistently score in playoffs.

Dragic helps make them better. And, gives Harden an opportunity to stay fresh on defense. Monti... doesn't quite do that. I can see Houston caving because of this dynamic and how desperately they need a creator, and their previous relationship wi th Goran guaranteeing a verbal extension. Morey has tried a 1000 trades, done about a 100 transactions, and 8 or so have worked out. He's not the God you think he is.... but he uses probability to his advantage. That's exactly why he would do this.
